Togata wakes up early, Takes a shower and dresses up in his uniform. Tick appears behind him adjusting his collar as the 2 stand in front of a mirror.
''Hope you slept well Togata?''. Tick asks. ''Yes, Thank you Mr Tick''. Togata replies.
''Incredible manners boy, keep it up''. Tick says. ''Mr Tick can I ask you something?''. Togata asks. ''Go ahead''. Tick replies. ''Why do you look like a ghost butler?, were you a butler in your last life?''. Togata asks. ''How dare you boy! I... I am not a ghost butler!''. Tick replies pissed off by the comment.
Togata just laughs. ''Liar. You were''. Togata teases. ''These were worn by only the most respected! Rather I was a count back in my day!''. Tick says in defense. ''Anyway enough about my attire! We must leave now''. Tick says. ''I must admit you clean up well boy child''. Tick continues. ''Thanks''. Togata says adjusting his glasses.
''Although I do hope you can see through those glasses, considering it has a well cracked lens''. Tick asks. ''I've never seen clearer than this Mr Tick''. Togata replies. ''Cheerio boy! now get out there!''. Tick cheers.
Togata walks out of his room heading to the breakfast table and takes a seat. ''Togata... You're up early, are you ok?''. Sister Iris asks worried. ''Good Morning miss Iris, I'm fine''. Togata replies with a smile. ''Good perfect manners Togata keep it up''. Tick compliments.
''Togata come here for a bit''. Sister Iris asks. Togata gets up and goes towards her. She suddenly bends down and hugs him. ''Togata I know things are hard right now but I want you to know you can rely on me ok?''. She asks crying.
Togata is stunned but he doesn't hug her back. ''Yes, miss. Please don't cry I'm fine''. Togata replies with a smile. ''You're so strong for your age. Wait where did you get those glasses?''. Sister Iris asks wiping away her tears. ''Uhh they were my dad's''. Togata replies. ''Oh that's great! But one of the lens is cracked. Do you want me to get them fixed for you?''. She asks with a smile.
''No miss!... I like them like this''. Togata replies. ''Ok then make sure to study hard ok?''. Sister Iris asks. ''Of course''. Togata says with a smile as Sister Sumire brings in the breakfast. Togata goes to sit and starts eating.
''The boy is awake? and he seems happier, what happened?''. Sister Sumire asks. ''I don't know but it's a miracle''. Sister Iris replies with a smile. ''Now go wake up the rest of the children''. Sister Iris says with a smile as she skips away.
When they leave Tick rematerializes. ''What's wrong Mr Tick?''. Togata asks. ''Hmm just making sure their feeding you the right brain food, success starts in the mouth they say''. Tick replies. Togata smiles ''This feels nice, Mr Tick helped me so much, I can't let him down, plus he doesn't know I can still talk to myself in my head''. Togata says with a smile. ''What are you smiling about boy?''. Tick asks. ''Nothing Mr Tick''. Togata smiles.
After breakfast everyone headed to class. ''Now who can tell me their 2 times table?''. Their teacher asks. Togata puts his hand up immediately. ''Togata! what are you doing you haven't learnt a thing boy put your hand down!''. Tick says in a panic. ''Togata, go ahead.''. The teacher says worried. ''2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24,26,28,30''. Togata says smiling.
''Woahh''. The whole class exclaims. ''Oh my''. Tick says. The teachers mouth basically catching flies at this point. Togata smirks ''Would you like me to keep going miss?''. He asks. ''Well I guess so keep going until you can't''. The teacher says testing him. ''32,34,38,...''. Togata keeps going, the whole class is just stunned, other children hear numbers they don't know go that high, teachers from other classes come in to check. Togata keeps going for almost hours until. ''1000!''. He says with a smile.
''Bravo Togata!''. Sister Iris shouts from the door. ''Can.. can you keep going?''. The teacher asks in curiosity. ''Yes miss, should I?''. Togata replies his legs swaying under his desk. ''No, no, class is dismissed everyone go for lunch please''. The teacher says starstruck. All the children leave mouths still wide as Togata seems to gather attention at the table. ''How?''. A child asks him. ''I don't know I just have always been able to do that''. Togata replies. ''He talked to me Tick!!''. Togata says excitedly in his head. ''Ohh my''. Tick says starstruck.
As they eat lunch Togata overhears the other sisters speaking about him. ''Sister Iris, I believe we've struck gold''. One sister remarks. ''That boy is something else''. Sister Sumire says. ''I told you he was special''. Sister Iris smiles proudly.
''Done!''. Togata says an arm raised. ''May I go to my room to study?''. Togata continues. ''Uhh I guess so Togata go ahead''. Sister Iris says with a smile
Togata heads to his room to study. ''Mr Tick! I impressed everyone, was it good?''. Togata says smiling. Tick materializes pacing around the room ''Oh my, oh my, oh my,..... Why did you hide this intellect from me child''. Tick says. ''What's wrong did I do something bad?''. Togata asks. ''No!! Not at all! hahahah, boy you're incredible!''. Tick remarks excitedly. ''Is the plan on track?''. Togata asks. ''Well. You might just be the only boy who can actually fulfill the plan''. Tick replies with a smile.
Months went by, but Tick's watch still clicked with the same steady rhythm. Only Togata seemed different. He woke up earlier than everyone else, as to Tick's orders. He helped Sisters clean, as to Tick's orders. He skipped grades and even helped other children with their homework, basically becoming the orphanage's poster boy, it became obvious Togata was quite different. He became quite proficient in everything he did until finally the opportunity presented itself.
''Togata! Togata, it's here the national Math Olympiad!!''. Sister Iris says bursting into Togata's room.
