Chapter 11 - A Genius

As soon as that brilliant girl leaves, I make a call to my excited superior about all this. I sit in the chair while the phone rings, hoping they answer soon.

What I'm going to get for this information is incredible, after all, the superiors love to receive highlighted news before the system informs them, as prior information is power.

And the more power they have, the better for them, and with that, I also end up winning, after all, if I didn't get anything, I would never be so proactive. Soon, the superior I called answers.

"Yukio, what do you need? You usually don't call me, so I deduce this must be something important..." My boss speaks with a little surprise and nostalgia in his voice, since among my various superiors, he is always the first one I inform of good news.

"I found a genius," I say only that, he will understand what I mean, after all, I don't joke about this kind of thing, he will love this information, I can already imagine the rewards I will get.

"...Name," he asks just that, since with the name he can search for some basic information about her with his level of authority.

"Setsuna Shū, she's 18 years old, an orphan with no known parents, grew up in an orphanage that has already been demolished, and basically has no one with her." This makes her even more useful since there is no one else to opine on what she does.

"..." He is momentarily thinking about what to say, it seems he is having various ideas about what to do.

"What is she like?" He asks just that, it seems he has already started researching that girl, after all, I hear the keyboard sounds through the phone.

"Cold, a little apathetic, but very daring, exactly the type that makes other talents move, although her apathy comes from a minor mental problem as you will see in her file."

"However, the lack of strong feelings makes her much more valuable, as it allows her to make better and more rational decisions and actions, so we can say it's a gift."

"What did she do to make you call her a genius?" He questions with doubt since I didn't say what she did, and since it hasn't been released to the system yet, he doesn't have access to her grade information.

"She managed to perfectly answer 1,000 test questions, achieving a 100% success rate... in just 16 hours, basically setting a new school record."

"That's really impressive... is she looking for something specific or the like? I don't doubt that a genius like this must have made some kind of request."

"No, she said she's looking for someone and all she asked for was to be placed in classroom A-2 of block 3 and remove the student who had only 51% proficiency by a small margin."

"...Should I deny this? She made it clear that she would leave the school if she didn't get into this class, and she seemed to be quite serious about leaving the school if her request was denied."

"It's okay, you can proceed with this request. To have a genius like her is worth it, there are many advantages just by having her studying here, the top echelon will also be interested in her."

"You can put that 51% proficiency student in another class, open a spot in the class for this genius." Each class has an exact number to maintain proper order and control.

So someone necessarily has to leave the class for Setsuna to be able to enter class A-2 of block 3.

"Try to find out who was the student who attracted this genius to our school, after all, it is much more useful to maintain control over this since it would be bad to expel, remove, or change such a student without meaning to."

"Is there anything useful that this little genius said about herself?" My boss now has curiosity in his voice, showing that he is also interested.

"Not much, she denied all the special programs, and the only thing about her that she herself said was that she is a lesbian, of course, this is not a problem since the students' sexuality does not matter."

"But if she is a lesbian, there is a chance that the student she is looking for is a girl, so the teachers in class A-2 should pay close attention to that student and to those around her."

"Is there anything else you'd like to mention?" He asks me to conclude this conversation.

"She's a bit scary." I say this remembering her look when I talked about "helping" her with the person she was looking for, that look was creepy and scary.

"I understand, 'scary' is not exactly something we say about a genius, but with everything I've heard, I can say that she is the eccentric type with an out-of-the-box mind... for now, let's just see how things turn out."

"Leave everything as is, approve her entry by adding her to the records, and of course, do everything possible to make her the highlight of the school tomorrow, make an extremely bold and exposing headline."

"All students should know that if they don't improve, they can be humiliated by a newcomer who didn't even take the entrance exam, and answered everything perfectly in 16 hours, basically a walk in the park for her," my superior says on the phone.

Setsuna seems to be the type who doesn't want attention, but knows she's going to get attention even if she doesn't want it, so everything will be fine either way.

"Understood, I will go to the IT team and the school's news team to post on the official website about her, I will also provide some general information like her background."

"Good idea, when they know she's just a girl from an orphanage, everyone will be even more excited. We'll force the geniuses we already have to see that they can lose their privileges."

"Those who are in the second and third years need this kind of incentive, they've been making very little progress due to their advantages, and they need someone to shake their convictions."

"But I have one last question... can she handle staying in this school? It's no use being a genius who doesn't know how to use what they have and is crushed by social pressure."

"Geniuses like that are just dirt that stains the polish of other geniuses," he speaks in a serious tone, after all, if Setsuna can't handle the social pressure, she has no real use.

"Honestly... I think the students are the ones who have to worry about that girl. She has a dangerous look, and her mental problem makes her feel less empathy."

"Someone without empathy for others has a much better chance of rising high in the school hierarchy." I give the answer I firmly believe.

That girl seems strangely dangerous, her cold and analytical gaze leaves no room to try to know what she's thinking, as if her focus is always on something too far for us to see.

"...Good to know. You did a great job, I'll give you a nice fat bonus, if you know what I mean. Keep me informed of any extras, and send me her test, I want to personally check how the new genius of the block thinks." He makes a joke while asking for the documents.

"Understood, I'll soon send you a copy of all the documents and data." I say as he hangs up, the phone makes a sound indicating that he's hung up.

"Hahaha what a success! What luck! Who would have thought a little genius would show up right in my sector?" I murmur with a smile, it was a lot of luck, and this luck makes me very happy, the chances of this happening were quite low.

Toc Toc Toc

"Come in." Someone knocks on the door, and the teacher who supervised that girl soon appears, I look at him without containing my excitement.

"Do you need anything?" I ask with a smile.

"Here are the recordings of her taking the test." He hands me a tablet with the camera recordings, I quickly start watching how the test was done.

"Wow, impressive..." I observe the pace at which she writes on the test, it's simply absurd, even on the questions that are extremely long and difficult calculations, she does it quickly.

"She's deliberately stopping... or is it just a genius trick to think a little?" There are moments when she stops writing and stares at the test intently, and only after a few seconds does she start writing again.

"There's no way to know, in the end, geniuses are strange," the teacher who supervised her responds to my question.

"Geniuses... yes, I can't understand geniuses either, but it doesn't matter, as long as it's good for us." I start sending the video to my tablet to later send to the boss.

He might like to see this, after all, the more information I give, the bigger my bonus can be.

"Now you can leave, but first, go to the printer and print several copies of that girl's test, then laminate the original, we're going to display it next to the other school record items."

"...Okay." The teacher leaves to do the work while I dial the next number, of course I'll give this information to other superiors who are available, the more bonuses I get, the better.

'This girl was like hitting the jackpot, the bonus delivered for finding this type of student is usually very large, I hit the biggest luck that could happen in this sector.' I think, excited about my reward.
