Chapter 24 - Mine Wolf King, Elite Boss

After navigating the maze-like mine tunnels, he entered the latter half of the dungeon.

Stretching before him was a massive passage nearly a thousand meters long.

On both sides of the passage were rows of room-like cells with massive iron doors, resembling prison cells from a distance.

Beastly roars continuously emanated from within, echoing through the vast passage.

The air, already thick with a bloodthirsty aura, now carried an additional stench of rot.

A massive monster blocked the center of the path.

This creature resembled a cross between a wolf and a dog, its height exceeding one meter even while lying down.

If it stood up, its full height would likely surpass three meters, with a body length over five meters.

A Detection spell landed on the monster like a gentle breeze.

[Mine Wolf King (Elite Boss)]

[Level: 15]

[Strength: 2000]

[Agility: 2000]

[Spirit: 1000]

[Constitution: 2500]

[Skill: Roar]

This was Morintis's first encounter with a Boss-level monster, and an Elite Boss at that.

Although its four core attributes were still inferior to the Skeleton Warriors, they were significantly stronger than other minor monsters.

"Even a Boss's attributes have reached this level.

It seems the final dungeon Boss's attributes will be even more powerful."

"But they probably won't exceed the Skeleton Warriors, otherwise, no one could clear this dungeon."

Such strength was normal for a Nightmare difficulty dungeon.

Generally, those capable of conquering Nightmare difficulty dungeons would have levels surpassing the dungeon's level.

An elite five-person party would likely have an average level of 17 or 18.

Furthermore, their equipment and skills couldn't be too poor.

Otherwise, tackling a Nightmare dungeon would be impossible.

Someone like Morintis, soloing a Nightmare dungeon at Level 10, was unprecedented in history.

Disturbed by the Detection spell, the Mine Wolf King awoke from its slumber.

It slowly rose, its massive wolf-like body stretching over five meters.

Morintis and the Skeleton Warriors weren't even as tall as its legs.

Its crimson wolf eyes fixed on Morintis, radiating a bloodthirsty aura.

A terrifying sense of oppressive washed over him.

"Attack!"

Morintis issued the command.

Fifty-six Skeleton Warriors charged towards the Mine Wolf King like lightning.

The Mine Wolf King let out a fierce roar, activating its skill.

A powerful shockwave erupted from its mouth.

The thirty-plus Skeleton Warriors at the forefront were simultaneously blown away.

The mine walls on both sides trembled violently, shedding countless crushed stones.

Morintis, standing dozens of meters away, felt the shockwave, a trace of surprise crossing his face.

This skill was an area-of-effect ability with a knockback effect.

It was the first time he had seen the Skeleton Warriors being blown back.

The Skeleton Warriors were sent flying, crashing to the ground or against the rock walls, looking somewhat disheveled.

However, Morintis showed no worry.

He could sense the Skeleton Warriors were merely knocked back; the actual damage they suffered wasn't significant.

Their 3400 Constitution was no joke.

The Skeleton Warriors' defense was already immensely powerful.

The Skeleton Warriors quickly got back on their feet and charged at the Mine Wolf King again.

The minor cracks caused by the earlier attack rapidly vanished, healing in the blink of an eye.

Their soul fires burned as fiercely as ever.

"Use skills!"

Furious Strike!

The Skeleton Warriors that hadn't been blown back had already reached the Mine Wolf King.

Their greatswords, glowing red, slashed at it.

Blood splattered, flesh tore open, wounds deep enough to reveal bone.

The Wolf King howled in agony.

Many Skeleton Warriors leaped high, landing directly on the Mine Wolf King's body.

Their blades glowing red, they activated their skills.

This scene strongly resembled the vision Morintis saw during his class change—the Skeleton Warriors hacking the dragon to death.

The Mine Wolf King wasn't as massive or powerful as that dragon.

The Skeleton Warriors' attack power was higher than its own; each slash caused considerable damage.

The Mine Wolf King thrashed wildly, its enormous body crashing against the mine walls in a desperate attempt to shake off the Skeleton Warriors on its back.

The Skeleton Warriors' hands gripped firmly into its flesh, making them hard to dislodge.

The Skeleton Warriors on the ground pursued relentlessly, their blades chopping at its legs.

Swords striking bone produced metallic clangs, and the Wolf King's screams intensified.

Its claws swatted at the Skeleton Warriors, the immense impact sending them flying.

The Skeleton Warriors weren't heavily injured and came running back moments later.

It tried biting them, only to have its teeth shatter.

The Skeleton Warriors' Constitution of 3400 made them incredibly sturdy.

"What's the use of a large size?

Those meant to die will still die."

Watching this, Morintis felt a sense of insight.

A massive size might bring a stronger sense of oppressive and greater power, but it also became a weakness.

As long as its defense wasn't strong enough to withstand the Skeleton Warriors' assault, the outcome was predictable.

In just a few seconds, the Wolf King was on the verge of death.

ROAR!

Another fierce roar erupted.

The Mine Wolf King used its skill for the second time.

This time, it went all out.

The knockback effect of the Roar skill was pushed to its limit.

Under the sweeping shockwave, it finally managed to shake off all the Skeleton Warriors on its body, even blowing away those surrounding it.

"The skill's attack power is average, but the knockback effect is quite good," Morintis observed, his face expressionless as he watched the Skeleton Warriors scattering through the air like scattered blossoms.

The skill looked impressive, but the Skeleton Warriors hadn't actually taken much damage.

Sure enough, after hitting the ground, the Skeleton Warriors rolled with the impact and then ran back, each as vigorous and fierce as before.

The Mine Wolf King suddenly turned and began limping hurriedly down the passage, fleeing deeper into the mine.

"It's running away?"
