Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Plasma

As his telekinesis grew stronger, some application methods that originally existed only in theory gradually became feasible, and Roy began to implement them.

Theoretically, provided the temperature and pressure were high enough, Roy could directly use air-based telekinesis to "knead" plasma. This substance, with a temperature soaring to several thousand degrees, was sufficient to instantly vaporize most materials, making it an ideal means of attack. It could practically render all ordinary equipment useless.

The focus was on creating a high-temperature, high-pressure environment. While controlled fusion requires separation to provide high temperature and pressure, Roy did not need such complications; he would go straight to "kneading" it by hand.

First, he would create a telekinetic vortex, and then continuously compress the surrounding air. In just a moment, the air constrained within the center of the telekinetic vortex would experience a dramatic increase in pressure and temperature. By maintaining this, a dazzling plasma mass could be created.

It sounded simple, but it was not easy to do. Roy could achieve it entirely because his telekinesis was strong enough and his control was sufficiently refined.

Rumble!

In the dark thunderstorm clouds, Roy's figure streaked quickly. Bolts of lightning striking his body were all blocked by his telekinetic barrier.

"It's done."

He was slightly surprised; the process was a bit faster than he had imagined. A mass of plasma was contained in his palm. The powerful telekinesis created a vacuum zone to isolate the heat, and the distorted telekinetic barrier weakened the blinding light. Even such a small blue-glowing mass of plasma contained unimaginable energy.

He planned to test the power of this thing in the next ruined city.

The spread of the Zombie microbes led to the apocalypse, but just as the middle-aged man at the survivor base said, this was also a chance for human evolution.

Under normal circumstances, the success rate for an ordinary person to be successfully enhanced after contracting the Zombie virus was less than one in a hundred thousand. The middle-aged man who could raise the success rate of the modified microbe to 1% was more than a genius.

With billions of people contracting the Zombie virus, it was normal for a group of successful enhancees to appear. These people similarly called themselves the "New Humans."

The Zombie virus reorganizes biological genes. Once enhancement is successful, certain human functions receive a permanent and wide-ranging increase.

As for abilities like controlling natural energy, that was out of the question. Human genes do not contain such things; no matter how they are reorganized, this ability is unlikely to appear.

At most, they might discharge electricity like an eel.

Outside a certain abandoned city, a fully armed group of personnel was preparing to depart. A burly man in black tactical gear muttered.

"Electric discharge? What am I even supposed to do with this trash ability? At most, I can shock a zombie a bit in close combat, but if it's close combat, why wouldn't I use my saber?"

He was particularly dissatisfied with his ability. At the very least, a physical strength or endurance enhancement would have been fine, but instead, it was a garbage ability like electro-discharge.

"Hey, come listen to the battle plan!"

"Got it."

The burly man slung his automatic rifle and walked over to the rest of the squad. Standing at the forefront was a middle-aged man also wearing black tactical gear. He was the commander of this special forces squad and also a very strong New Human, rumored to have personally killed over two hundred zombies with just a saber.

Extremely fierce.

"Listen closely."

The commander held up a photograph. In the photo was a white-haired girl wearing a black coat: "This is the target of our mission. She is somewhere in this city. Find her, and bring her out completely intact. Understood?"

"Understood."

"Check equipment!"

"Move out!"

As they started their movement, a squad member asked the burly man: "This mission sounds unreliable. What do you mean 'find her'? Where are we even looking?"

"What are you afraid of?"

The burly man shrugged: "Even if we run out of ammo, the commander will carve out a path with his saber. When the sky falls, there's always someone taller to hold it up."

"You have a point."

Not long after the words were spoken, before the special forces soldiers had fully entered the urban structures, a massive rumble of air bursting came from the sky. A black streak plunged directly into the city block.

The burly man was astonished.

"What was that?"

Boom!

The massive explosion was deafening, instantly drowning out the burly man's voice. The rapidly expanding air formed a visible shockwave that swept over them, instantly breaking up the special forces squad's formation.

The commander yelled: "Find cover!"

It wasn't until the shockwave subsided that the squad members, looking confused, peeked out. They had absolutely no idea what had just happened.

"A meteorite?"

"Commander, do we continue the mission?"

"Continue the mission!"

The commander pondered for a moment, then decided to proceed. Taking advantage of the opportunity that the Zombies had all been drawn away, their search operation should be smoother.

In the abandoned city, Roy's figure rose from the crater. Powerful telekinesis swept across the city, instantly giving him a clear understanding of the situation here.

"Plenty of Zombies. Time to test the new technique."

With that, a massive telekinetic vortex appeared in the sky above Roy. As the telekinetic vortex absorbed air, a large amount of air was compressed within it, causing the temperature and pressure to rapidly increase.

As a ring of blue light ignited, a mass of high-temperature plasma flowed inside the telekinetic vortex.

"Roar!"

A large number of Zombies, attracted by the massive commotion, surged forward from all directions like a black tide. The dense horde rushed towards Roy.

A dazzling light suddenly burst forth. The high-temperature plasma inside the telekinetic vortex shot out under high pressure, sweeping across the ground like a laser. The scorching air caused heat haze and distortion. All matter that came into contact with the high-temperature plasma was instantly and utterly vaporized, disappearing completely.

The surging tsunami of Zombies was vaporized in an instant. The blue beam shot several kilometers away, slicing through skyscraper after skyscraper like cutting tofu.

The special forces members hadn't even taken two steps when a plasma beam streaked directly over their heads. The buildings in front of them subsequently collapsed and crumbled, creating an extremely spectacular scene.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Rubble flew everywhere, and the ground shook incessantly. Compared to the collapsing skyscrapers, they were simply as tiny as ants.

"Retreat!"

Finally, the commander knew that whatever landed in the city was absolutely not a meteorite. He retreated frantically backward. The skyscrapers of the entire city were collapsing. In the deafening noise, no one could hear what he was shouting, but the squad members just desperately followed him.

The burly man was scared out of his wits by the scene, and couldn't help but yell hoarsely: "Is this motherfucking aliens coming to invade our planet?!"

The special forces were desperately retreating from the building area, while behind them, structures were collapsing consecutively. The entire city was violently crumbling.
