Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Return to the Space

Countless streams of light hovered around Roy, revealing equipment, items, and abilities within. Roy glanced at them, directly discarding ninety percent of the garbage, not even keeping a single piece of equipment.

Excluding the unique case of Number One, this world basically did not drop any good equipment or items; they were all ordinary, mundane pieces of junk.

After careful selection, Roy picked a few decent abilities.

[ Ability Mastered: Speed Enhancement · LV1 ]

[ Speed Enhancement · LV1: Enhances leg muscles, allowing you to run as swiftly as a hunting leopard and jump higher. ]

[ Ability Mastered: Arm Strength Enhancement · LV1 ]

[ Arm Strength Enhancement · LV1: Enhances arm muscles; your arm strength will increase significantly. ]

[ Ability Mastered: Vision Enhancement · LV1 ]

[ Vision Enhancement · LV1: Enhances eyesight; you will be able to see much further. ]

...

These were all abilities that enhanced physical functions and senses. And just as Roy mastered all these abilities, his physical quality was comprehensively boosted to another level.

[ Detecting mergeable abilities ]

[ Ability merge complete ]

[ Ability Mastered: New Human · LV1 ]

After the abilities merged, all the previous ability entries disappeared, leaving only the New Human ability entry. Roy was slightly surprised.

He hadn't expected abilities to merge. This was actually very good; at least it looked much simpler. However, he estimated that upgrading this ability would certainly require a substantial amount of points.

Following that,

[ Main Mission · Complete ]

[ Do you choose to submit the mission immediately? ]

[ Yes ] [ No ]

Roy chose Yes.

The instant he made the choice, his figure flickered again like an image on an old-fashioned TV, and then completely vanished.

Tzz tzz—

[ Main Mission submission successful ]

[ Upgrade Mission 10 · Failed ]

[ Settlement complete ]

[ Points acquired: 1000 ]

[ Remaining Points balance: 1000 ]

...

From Roy's perspective, the image before his eyes instantly changed the moment he made his choice. Looking around, he found himself standing in a bustling, modernized public square.

"No side-effect physical replenishment serum—you deserve to own it!"

"Do you want to go shopping later?"

"Damn it! What kind of fighting is this? I could fight better than them if I entered the arena! And they call that a major legion? Bah, wasting my time!"

Roy looked up at the large screen facing the square, which was broadcasting a war taking place in some other world. It looked just like a sci-fi blockbuster. The picture was explosive, and the uncle next to him was cursing angrily.

The interface flashed up.

[ Welcome to the Apocalypse Space, Apocalypse Apostle ]

[ Congratulations on successfully surviving the beginner world mission. You will embark on an entirely new path here, experiencing various worlds, seeking the truth of the worlds, and pursuing infinite strength. ]

[ Thus ]

[ We wish you well ]

[ Item Acquired: Apocalypse Space Guide Manual ]

A guide manual appeared in Roy's hand. He flipped it open to see that the essential important information was written on the first page, immediately visible.

First, the Apocalypse Space had anchored countless worlds, but only one person from each world was chosen to enter the space and become an Apocalypse Apostle. This meant that no other Apocalypse Apostle could appear in Roy's world besides him.

Secondly, all worlds anchored by the Apocalypse Space maintained the same flow of time. Logically, there was no difference in the flow of time between the worlds belonging to each Apocalypse Apostle. Only the Apocalypse Space was independent of all anchored worlds. No matter how long one stayed here, only an instant would have passed when returning to their own world.

Even if one spent a long time in a mission world after entering the Space, only an instant would have passed upon returning to the original world, because the mission worlds were non-anchored worlds.

Thirdly, based on the synchronized time of the anchored worlds, Apocalypse Apostles must execute a mission once every month. This was a mandatory mission that could not be avoided.

However, Apocalypse Space missions had no failure penalty, which was the best part. Failing a mission simply meant not receiving the reward; it was nothing major.

Trying to hide in the Space to avoid missions was absolutely impossible. Should such malicious evasion occur, the Apostle would still be thrown into another world to execute a mission.

That's why it was called a mandatory mission; it could not be avoided.

At the same time, many other Apocalypse Apostles returned to the Space in the square. A rough estimate put the number at over a thousand. Among them were John and others. They were forcibly ended from their missions and returned to the Space following Roy's main mission submission. Their main mission had failed, but at least many of them survived.

Perhaps because the Apocalypse Space frequently threw people into ruins where not even ghosts could be seen, the people in the Space generally loved liveliness, or perhaps exhibited bipolarity: the solitary were truly eccentric, and the talkative were truly long-winded.

Many people hadn't encountered a single person in some worlds for decades and were on the verge of becoming mentally ill. After returning to the Space, they would grab someone and babble non-stop, moved to tears. The sense of hostility here was surprisingly weak.

"Damn it! I finally see a living person!"

"Bro, how about a passionate hug!"

One overly excited guy cried out and lunged toward someone, only to be kicked away. John paused his steps as he passed Roy.

"Bro, didn't we meet in the mission world?"

"No."

"That's weird."

John scratched his head, muttering as he walked away. He really felt Roy's figure looked familiar, but he just couldn't recall where he had seen him.

"Tyson!"

"Hahaha, we're alive, Tyson!"

The young men ahead shouted and hugged each other, looking like they shared a bond of life-and-death, excitedly surrounding a blue-haired youth.

"Are there newcomers?"

At this moment, a group of people charged into the square with passionate fervor, like touts at a train station hustling for hotel guests. A thin man with a cordial smile handed Roy a flyer.

"Handsome guy, if you want to join a legion, you should consider our Diamond Legion! If you're not interested, you can still check us out; we have other services too..."

"..."

The situation inside the Space was slightly different from what Roy had imagined. He had expected a bunch of madmen or executioners, but it was surprisingly harmonious.

Roy flipped through the guide manual. The Apocalypse Space was enormous, generally resembling a modernized, large-scale metropolis, divided into residential areas, commercial areas, and many other zones.

Undoubtedly, the busiest area was the commercial zone. That was where all the shops and free markets opened by Apocalypse Apostles were, and most importantly, the enhancement facilities were also located there.

After completing the main mission, Roy acquired 1000 points. Points could be used to enhance equipment, items, and abilities—the most crucial aspect for an Apocalypse Apostle.

Roy decisively headed straight for the enhancement facility in the commercial zone.
