Chapter 16 - [The Dungeon is Alive]

Night.

In the midst of Central Park, where people were always coming and going, Isagi looked at the two young girls before him and issued the supreme directive.

"Let's go!"

"Understood!!"

"Yes, nya!!"

The two girls were fully armed as well!

Lefiya had already changed out of the red-and-white uniform of the School District. In its place, she wore a white shirt as a base, with a small light purple ribbon tied at her chest, a pale red capelet, and a pink corset, extending down into a long skirt that reached her knees—though designed specifically to facilitate movement.

The front of the skirt was actually "open", revealing a small section of a pale red miniskirt underneath, which exposed pure white garters and displayed the girl's long, youthfully vibrant legs.

This was a set of "Mage Gear".

The fitted dress was conducive to the flow of magic and was more breathable, while its defense could not be underestimated due to being crafted from special materials.

For this, Isagi's evaluation was 90 points.

If he included the Elf girl herself with her long, bright golden hair, then it was 99 points.

He didn't know if it was because the adventurer culture in this world was too pervasive, but the clothes for going into the Dungeon ended up looking like "in-game skins". could this really withstand monster attacks?

Isagi felt it was necessary to find a time to seriously research this!

By comparison.

The catgirl's attire aligned more closely with Isagi's perception of an adventurer.

Anya had already changed out of the dark green tavern uniform with the pure white apron she usually wore. In its place was a beige shirt accompanied by a red scarf.

Strapped around the shirt were belts that could be considered decorative but were also used to store various items.

The small brownish-red skirt was the girl's last bit of stubbornness.

Below that were brownish-gray leather gloves and long boots, as well as dark sports shorts of the same shade.

Aside from the iron guards on her knees and elbows, the girl was very lightly equipped, wearing mostly fitted leather armor. Coupled with a golden spear etched with intricate patterns, her short, slightly curled brown hair, and her perky cat ears and tail, she appeared incredibly capable, giving off a truly valiant and heroic vibe.

Now this is an adventurer.

But is this still the idiot Anya?!

Such a question involuntarily popped into Isagi's mind. Immediately after, his large carryall bag was taken over by Lefiya.

"Let me carry it!"

The massive, heavy bag looked as if it would completely crush the girl's slender body.

Heading into the Dungeon.

Generally, one would carry such a large bag; inside, not only could one place various necessary tools and potions, but one could also store materials dropped by monsters, Magic Stones, and so on.

Under normal circumstances, an adventurer party would specifically hire a professional "Supporter" to do this job.

Supporters do not participate in combat; they are responsible only for carving Magic Stones out of monsters, picking up materials, and carrying supplies and tools.

But Isagi had always done it himself before, and now... well, one could only say that Lefiya was overly enthusiastic.

Everything was ready.

The three of them walked into the Dungeon entrance, continuing down the spiral staircase toward the massive pit below.

Soon.

They arrived at the 1st Floor that Isagi knew so well.

At this moment, Lefiya showed caution and nervousness; clearly, the last adventure had left her with some psychological shadows.

While on Anya's face, there was nothing but seriousness and...

Professionalism!

Although she was a Level 4 adventurer, she showed not a hint of playfulness or intent to run around wildly. By comparison, the catgirl exuded the kind of "deep" awe for the Dungeon that only a veteran adventurer would possess.

"Advance, nya!"

Although her small mouth still spouted foolish words with maximum silliness.

But the catgirl walked constantly by Lefiya's side, almost subconsciously intending to cover the mage in the team. It was clear she was indeed a professional.

Isagi was also very serious at this moment.

However, he soon discovered that there was nothing on the 1st Floor.

Sneak attacks from corners; various special monsters; including the "Goblin Guard" that had previously blocked the inevitable path to the 2nd Floor;

When the three-person team arrived at the corridor leading to the 2nd Floor, inside that familiar chamber.

The original traces of battle had long been erased. Whether it was the pits in the walls or the cracked ground—the Dungeon repairs the damage to its "body". The destruction caused would gradually recover, and if excessive destruction was caused, it would...

...

After circling around the chamber.

Isagi looked up at the ceiling, which was only about four meters high and emitting a dim, pale blue fluorescence. There was nothing there either.

This once again confirmed his previous speculation.

[The Dungeon's "Energy Bar" is limited; it cannot infinitely generate that kind of special monster.]

Isagi recalled the scene he witnessed when he first arrived here.

When he first saw the "Goblin Guard" fall from the sky and had one life taken by it, he had very cautiously chosen to retreat.

And as he walked away.

That "Goblin Guard" did not chase after him but slowly turned into dust on the spot. Isagi had specifically looked back from a distance; it was like the blue-violet crystalline debris of a shattered Magic Stone, particularly conspicuous inside the dim chamber.

Furthermore, it was constantly "sinking" into the ground.

That was the Dungeon reclaiming it. It was after that that Isagi formed the "Energy Bar" hypothesis.

Because the logic was simple.

If it could create such monsters at will, there would be no need to reclaim them.

And now.

With the "Goblin Guard" of the 1st Floor killed, the Dungeon deemed that the special monsters generated with the power of this floor could no longer stop him, so it simply stopped spawning them.

Does that mean it has been cleared by him?

[The Dungeon is alive.]

This is the first sentence written in the Guild's [Adventure Guide], known to every adventurer in Orario.

And now, Isagi had a deeper understanding of this.

Continue advancing!

Since the 1st Floor had been cleared by him, naturally they had to continue to the 2nd Floor!!

Walking down the slope-like corridor, the three-person team soon reached the end.

Like before, this was a "labyrinth" composed of crisscrossing chambers and passages. Topographically speaking, the Dungeon's 1st through 4th Floors were completely identical.

However.

The instant Isagi set foot on this floor, the differences popped up all at once.

"What is that, nya?"

The catgirl with superior vision clearly saw something coming from the dark end of the cavern.

That was...

"Rumble rumble rumble rumble rumble rumble"!

The sound of rolling boulders approached from afar, reaching their ears through the ground first.

A massive stone rolling toward them carried an unstoppable momentum, rolling over just like a large truck, almost making Isagi remember certain past experiences.

"Run, nya!!"

Anya immediately shouldered Lefiya beside her. Before the Elf girl even realized what was happening, Anya had already taken the lead in running toward another cavern tunnel, and naturally, Isagi followed close behind!

Only shortly after...

"Why is there one here too, nya!!"

"Switch paths!"

"Come this way nya, come this way nya... nya!!"

"Wait a second, Anya, wait for this stone to pass first."

"Oh, oh... okay, run now, nya!!"

"!!!"

Constantly driven by the rolling boulders, the three of them had soon deviated from their original route and arrived in the depths of this cavern labyrinth.

"It's finally gone, nya..."

Twitching her perky cat ears, Anya confirmed that the massive stone had moved away from them and was no longer chasing.

Isagi, however, remained calm, handing a waterskin to the catgirl and to Lefiya, who had just been put down and was still a bit dizzy.

For the Elf girl.

Being carried and run around by Anya was probably about the same as sitting in a super F1 race car, and the catgirl was far from using her full speed, otherwise, Lefiya wouldn't have been able to keep up at all.

That was a trap just now, right?

After all, in this kind of cavern terrain, oncoming giant rocks and the like are a staple one has to taste.

Isagi was fairly calm about this, but he quickly noticed something wrong.

Because very quickly, right in front of the three of them, the first batch of monsters appeared, and they turned out to be—

Flags painted with deep blue moons fluttered.

Wearing full plate armor like iron cans, and with their armor covered in various brightly colored paintings, Goblin Knights held lances and shields, riding on the shoulders of Kobolds that were about the same size as them, roaring as they launched a charge straight at him!
