Chapter 17 - Fog Gate

So fast!

The Kobold beneath the Goblin Knight, despite clearly running on only two legs, had arrived right in front of him in the blink of an eye!!

"Careful, nya!"

He narrowly avoided the opponent's lance, which carried immense momentum. Even though it barely grazed him, the fierce wind it generated stung his cheeks.

Isagi knew the opponent's primary aggro target was definitely him.

So, having prepared in advance, he drew the greatsword "Great Fortune" from his back and used the momentum to slash horizontally, aiming straight for the Kobold being ridden!

As everyone knows, when fighting a mounted guy, if you can kill the horse, you kill the horse first.

But a shocking scene occurred.

The Goblin Knight and its mount were incredibly coordinated; it actually used the greatshield in its hand to block this strike for the mount.

And accompanying that...

Was a pair of filthy claws poking out from behind the greatshield!

Sure enough, this guy uses mix-ups!!

Isagi dodged to the side as if he had anticipated it, and then he saw the Kobold—covered in dirty fur, wearing only tattered chainmail, and with eyes full of madness—actually thrust a pitch-black tail out from behind itself, with a dagger wrapped around the tip, aiming straight for his heart!

Dirty trick!!

Isagi had always speculated about the Dungeon with the worst malice, so at this critical moment, he still managed to block this blow with the dagger hidden at his left wrist.

"Clang"!

Dagger and dagger collided in mid-air, sparking cold fire.

Isagi simultaneously dropped the greatsword in his hand and used his freed right hand to draw the katana "Flashlight" from his waist.

Combat Art, Full Moon Slash!

Combined with the weapon's inherent [Iaido] characteristic, the strike upon drawing from the sheath was granted extra attack power and speed.

The cold, chilly moon passed silently.

Simultaneously.

The Kobold beneath the Goblin Knight was cut down by Isagi.

However, when the katana in his hand followed the momentum and landed on the Knight—who was falling in mid-air because its mount was killed—

The sharp katana could only leave a shallow mark on its armor.

It didn't even bleed!

This guy really is a tin can!!

Isagi quickly changed his approach, starting from the joints in its arms. Before this monster could climb up from the ground, he found an opportunity and severed its left hand holding the shield.

All of this happened in a flash.

Yet even so, at the ends of the passages on both sides of the cavern, several more Goblin Knights were charging with raised lances.

But the low-HP monster in front of Isagi had already dropped its lance and drawn the longsword at its waist, looking ready to skirmish.

If delayed for a few seconds, the other companions would come to support!

It wouldn't get that chance!

Because Lefiya had already finished chanting her magic.

The elf girl, who had spent the whole day mentally preparing, also entered combat mode quickly when faced with a sudden encounter!!

"Unleash the arrow of light, bow of the sacred tree, I am the master of the bow. Snipe! Elven archer. Pierce! Arrow of absolute accuracy!"

The not-so-long chant was completed quickly within ten seconds, which was exactly the total time from when Isagi engaged the Goblin Knight until now.

Thus.

A pure white arrow of light shot out from the girl's staff, instantly crashing into the monster that had just stood up. Amidst the dazzling white light, armor, flesh, and half its body simply vanished.

Holy crap, what a Mage!

However, it makes sense that a guy with high physical defense has low magic defense.

Isagi had heard before that for ordinary adventurer parties, if they want to tackle the lower floors, a Mage is a must-have existence in the team.

Although most Mages' magic takes a long time to chant, requiring teammates to restrain monsters to buy her space.

But as long as the Mage releases the magic, everything will be fine.

Even many times, strategies against the Monster Rex rely on Mage units to deal heavy blows.

And regardless.

Lefiya is already a Level 2 Mage, and her magic stats crown the entire School District; saying she is the strongest Mage of this batch of students is no exaggeration at all.

"Noble warriors, archers of the forest..."

The battle continued.

Goblin Knights were charging from both front and back, and Lefiya had already begun chanting her wide-area attack magic.

Facing the approach of terrifying monsters, the elf girl remained standing in place, holding her staff high, chanting loudly, concentrating on gathering magic power.

This is the weakness of Mages; they must have teammates to cover them, and they must absolutely trust that teammates can cover them!

Meanwhile, Anya also took action.

"Leave that side to Isagi, nya!"

"OK."

One person for each side.

Isagi repeated his old trick, picking up the greatsword and actively charging towards the two Goblin Knights running from the distance.

Continuing to swing the sword horizontally to forcibly "park" them!

Then retreating slightly, creating distance while simultaneously dropping the greatsword again, swapping to the brass greatshield on his back. With a shield bash, he first knocked the left Goblin Knight flying off the Kobold's back.

Then, while using the shield to block the attacks of the fallen "mount", he pulled out the spear from behind him.

Started stepping back with small hops while shield-poking, shield-poking, shield-poking!

The Kobold's claws, and the longsword the Goblin Knight switched to after engaging in close combat, couldn't break through Isagi's shield at all.

At this rate, he could slowly grind them all to death, not to mention he had a mage teammate now.

About time~

"I order you to loose, elven fire arrows!"

"Rain down, burn the barbarians!!"

As the elf girl's voice fell.

Several crimson rays like meteors dragging tails, turning in mid-air, landed precisely on the heads of these monsters, turning them all into charcoal in one hit.

And after chanting this spell.

Lefiya immediately sat on the ground in exhaustion, gasping for breath while quickly taking out a potion to restore Mind from her waist and drinking it.

Endurance isn't great, little sister.

Isagi's side of the battle was considered over, and Anya's side was faster.

Long ago.

The spear-wielding catgirl, facing the Goblin Knight charging at her, naturally charged straight back at it.

Then.

In just an instant, the two monsters attacking from the other end were shattered by the immense impact force, and even the magic stones inside their bodies shattered instantly, causing their bodies to turn directly into ash.

A Level 4 adventurer is obviously too OP here.

But...

"Isagi, Lefiya, run nya!!"

The catgirl, who was a bit too smug for a moment, had just charged too far. Not only did she fail to "brake", but she also triggered a rolling boulder trap in the distance!

Skillfully shouldering Lefiya, who was still resting on the ground.

Anya didn't look back as she passed Isagi, moving her short legs, continuing forward just like that!

"Sprint nya, sprint nya, quick quick sprint sprint nya!!"

Isagi could only hurriedly pick up his weapons and follow.

The result was another good run...

"Ah... tired to death nya..."

"Haven't moved my body like this in a long time nya~"

Anya, who often slacked off every day even when working as a waitress in the pub, sat directly on the ground to rest.

Isagi was fine.

It was just that Lefiya was dizzier. The elf girl was now leaning against the cavern wall, looking as if she was carsick, swaying back and forth.

"By the way, where did we run to?"

"Don't know nya..."

"Did we pass a downward passage just now?"

Isagi remembered that while running, facing giant rocks coming from several sides, he and the two girls decisively chose the only passage without traps, and then slid down a downward slope to get here.

"Mm, we did."

Although dizzy, Lefiya remembered quite clearly.

As an excellent student of the School District, she always kept in mind what the teacher said: the most important thing in the Dungeon is to remember the way you came, because getting lost in the Dungeon without direction is the most terrible thing.

"Then this is the 3rd Floor."

Isagi muttered to himself.

Is there no powerful monster serving as a guard in front of the passage between floors like before?

Or is it...

Seeming to sense something suddenly, Isagi looked up and then discovered that in the distant cavern, there seemed to be many fragmented monster corpses scattered about.

Approaching, he found Goblins, Kobolds, and even Dungeon Lizards—a type of monster about two meters long, yellowish-brown, capable of crawling on walls and ceilings that appears starting from the 2nd Floor.

The remains of these monsters were scattered haphazardly on both sides of the cavern.

And, amidst them grew beautiful sky-blue flowers, forming a sharp contrast with the surrounding filthy flesh and blood.

Seeing this scene that was obviously different from the surroundings, Isagi instantly understood something and looked towards the depths.

Sure enough.

At the end of his line of sight, a gray fog gate appeared...
