Selene's POV
I glanced briefly at Maxwell before powering off my phone. A light smile danced on my lips as I said, "Well, it turned out my efforts weren't in vain."
"In what way?" He questioned, his gaze still cold and indifferent. Although, it held a hint of curiosity.
"Connor messaged me. He agreed to testify for me as long as I gave him a heads-up beforehand." I broke the news to him and he nodded, his lips curling into a genuine smile.
It had been a while since I received such good news, and I felt genuinely happy.
But I wasn't in a rush, relying solely on Connor wouldn't be enough to shake Leo. If I had him report now, Leo could easily dismiss his testimony. He was an alpha and that influence alone could make him win the case.
"I thought I'd have to use other means to convince him, but it seems that isn't necessary," Maxwell mumbled, and I looked at him, confused.
What other means was he referring to?
