Phoebe's POV
Nadia gripped her arm tightly, her face contorting as pain flashed across her features. I watched her jaw clench, clearly fighting to stay silent. She wasn't about to show any vulnerability in front of me.
To hide her discomfort, Nadia shifted closer to me, using the movement to mask the wince that twisted her expression.
But I could sense the bitter resentment radiating from her. What had begun as simple envy over my appearance had transformed into something much more venomous. I caught her shooting me a look filled with barely disguised malice.
When she spotted the guy she had a thing for staring at me with obvious interest, her dislike morphed into pure loathing.
Honestly, I couldn't have cared less about whatever was eating at her. I casually turned my attention to Charlies.
I'd already picked up on his stolen glances throughout the morning, so I arched an eyebrow at him, wordlessly questioning what he wanted.
