Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 Nick Fury's Actions

"Please send Agent Romanoff in."

After a moment of contemplation, Nick Fury pressed the intercom and casually gave the order.

A short while later, a sexy female agent with auburn curly hair and an extremely curvaceous figure appeared before Nick Fury.

It was none other than Black Widow, one of the two current members of the Avengers.

Smack!

Without any pleasantries, Nick Fury threw a stack of documents directly in front of Black Widow.

Black Widow picked them up and looked through them, asking with a hint of curiosity, "Sir, why are you suddenly so interested in a deceased soldier?"

The stack of documents Nick Fury handed to Black Widow was none other than the file concerning Captain America's last mission and his fall into the sea.

The documents were extremely detailed, including not only some specifics of Captain America's mission at the time but also the military's search and rescue mission brief afterward.

This included detailed coordinates of some marked locations at the time and the specific search and rescue situation, all clear at a glance.

It is worth mentioning that because the era was quite early, these documents were all paper-based and had not been entered into electronic archives, so Iron Man did not obtain this crucial information.

"I've received very important intelligence. Captain America, whom we all believed to be dead, may not be dead at all."

"Not only that, but he may have been frozen in the icy waters ever since the crash."

"So I need you to confirm this."

Nick Fury said to Black Widow with a serious expression.

Coulson had already told Nick Fury about both the "magic theory" and the "cryogenic preservation theory" regarding Captain America's possible survival.

From Nick Fury's perspective, both theories actually held a certain degree of plausibility.

The only difference was that one theory was magic-oriented, and the other was technology-oriented, involving different fields of knowledge, nothing more.

However, Coulson's magic theory could not be verified, while Tony Stark's cryogenic preservation theory was feasible to verify.

So, after some thought, Nick Fury decided to send someone to search the Arctic Ocean thoroughly.

"Sir, that sounds a bit crazy." Black Widow's first reaction was also that it was too absurd. "No one can survive seventy years in that environment without dying."

"It is a bit crazy." Nick Fury did not deny this. "But compared to other even crazier things I've seen, this is nothing."

"Understood, sir!" Black Widow said nothing more.

"I will equip you with a tactical team, under your command. I want you to re-search every marked location that the Starks searched back then."

"Report any findings to me immediately."

Nick Fury instructed Black Widow sternly.

Of course, the Stark mentioned here was not the current playboy, billionaire, super genius Tony Stark, but Tony Stark's father, Howard Stark.

After Captain America crashed into the river, Howard participated in the search but did not find Captain America's body. However, he successfully found the Tesseract that had fallen into the river.

That Tesseract has been secretly stored in a S.H.I.E.L.D. base until now.

"Understood!"

After responding, Black Widow turned and strode out.

After Black Widow left, Nick Fury handled some other matters. In the afternoon, Coulson returned to Nick Fury with the completed drawings.

"Sir, this is Thanos, the cosmic overlord."

Coulson first took out a drawing, placed it in front of Nick Fury, and introduced it, "But his skin is purple."

Nick Fury glanced at it, noncommittal, merely committing the image to memory.

After all, he was an alien; even if he knew what the other party looked like, he didn't think he could find out anything.

"And this person, he is a sorcerer."

Coulson then took out another drawing of a long-faced man in a cloak. "This is the person who opened the spatial portal and also pointed a finger at Iron Man, as if reminding him of something."

"How accurately does this drawing represent him?" Nick Fury was visibly more interested this time.

"Seven… or eight-tenths." Coulson said uncertainly. "This person's 'appearance' was too brief; I couldn't remember more."

Nick Fury nodded. "That's enough; I'll have someone look into it."

A similarity of seven or eight-tenths was actually quite high. The only issue was that, according to Coulson, those suspected future images might be from more than a decade later.

And a person's appearance could change to different degrees between a decade ago and a decade later.

Nevertheless, the drawings provided by Coulson were still a very important piece of intelligence.

"Thanos and this sorcerer, because they appeared first, my impression of them is deeper."

"For the other people who appeared later, my memory is even more blurry, and the fidelity is lower," Coulson added to Nick Fury.

Nick Fury nodded; this situation was not unexpected. He casually picked up the other drawings and examined them.

Nick Fury merely glanced over some of the character drawings. His gaze lingered for a moment on several battle scenes.

The alien spacecraft, pegasi, snail-tentacled people, and other images displayed there were still very valuable for reference.

"Wait… this flying wing device…"

Finally, Nick Fury's gaze fell on a drawing of a person flying in the sky with wings "growing" on their back and wearing goggles.

He didn't pay much attention to the person's appearance, but the wings on the person's back caught Nick Fury's attention.

After pondering for a moment, Nick Fury dialed another internal line: "Archives, send me the EXO-7 Falcon Project file, access code 00421."

A short while later, a document was delivered to Nick Fury's hands.

"Sam Wilson, I think I've found our 'bird-man boy'," Nick Fury said to Coulson, holding the document.

"Sam Wilson, formerly served in the 58th Parachute Rescue Team, participated in the confidential EXO-7 Falcon Project, later retired after a pilot's unfortunate death, and now works at a Veterans Affairs office…"

"Additionally, this set of 'bird-man equipment' is currently stored in a military base at Fort Meade…"

After reviewing the documents, Nick Fury casually said to Coulson, "It seems we have another person on our watch list."
