Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Iron Man: I'm in

"Sir, according to your schedule today, you are to visit Tony Stark at Stark Tower this afternoon."

"If you don't plan to change your schedule temporarily, then it's about time to leave now."

"It will be rush hour soon, and it won't be easy to travel then."

... After roughly arranging the matters at hand, a person who looked like a secretary knocked on the door and reminded Nick Fury.

Nick Fury stood up: "Coulson, do as I instructed."

"Understood, sir!" Coulson nodded, pushed the door open, and walked out of Nick Fury's office.

Nick Fury went to the parking lot, drove to Stark Tower, and rang the doorbell.

"Sir! You have a visitor."

The AI Jarvis immediately alerted Iron Man.

"I'm not seeing anyone."

Iron Man said to Jarvis without turning his head, while intently looking at the various data floating in front of him.

"Werewolves, vampires, aliens… so there are so many extraordinary beings in this world."

Iron Man occasionally exclaimed in surprise.

The supernatural data collected by Jarvis could be said to have opened a new door for Tony Stark, allowing him to truly understand the truth of this world.

Frankly speaking, after developing the Iron Man suit and declaring himself Iron Man, the guy had indeed gotten a bit carried away.

He thought that by wearing the Iron Man suit, he was a god-like existence, standing at the pinnacle of this world, and no one could do anything to him.

But now, Iron Man realized how foolish he had been before.

He was simply a frog in a well, unaware of how vast the sky and earth truly were.

"Tony, what are you doing?"

Iron Man, who was engrossed in these documents, was suddenly interrupted by Pepper.

Pepper not only came herself but also had a bald-headed man with her.

That bald-headed man also had one eye covered by an eyepatch, making him look like a suspicious character.

Iron Man waved his hand abruptly, and the data that had been floating around him quickly disappeared. Only then did Iron Man stand up.

"Our Iron Man actually likes to read mythological stories, that's truly unexpected."

Nick Fury said meaningfully. Although Iron Man quickly closed those files, Nick Fury still caught a glimpse of some things.

Among them were some mythological figures well-known in America, which Nick Fury recognized at a glance.

Nick Fury understood that Iron Man, like him, must also be frantically conducting relevant investigations because of that answering system.

"Excuse me, who are you?"

Iron Man looked at Nick Fury with a hint of displeasure and questioned him.

"Tony, he is the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Coulson's boss…" Pepper introduced him to Iron Man.

This was also why Pepper brought Nick Fury to see Iron Man without first asking for Iron Man's opinion.

The reason was simple: the visitor was a big shot.

"You're Nick Fury!" Iron Man suddenly realized, he sized Nick Fury up and down, then curled his lips, "You don't look like a big shot."

"Compared to Iron Man, of course, I'm not a big shot." Nick Fury walked towards Iron Man with a faint sneer on his face.

"'I am Iron Man', do you really think you're a superhero? Mr. Stark, there are many people like you in this world!"

If it were before, Iron Man would definitely have scoffed with disdain, but now, he uncharacteristically did not retort.

Because Iron Man had just learned the truth of this world, and he had indeed overestimated himself before.

"Nick Fury, why are you here?" Iron Man asked Nick Fury seriously.

Nick Fury didn't say anything, just glanced at Pepper with his single eye.

Pepper immediately understood. She spread her hands: "Tony, I just remembered, I forgot to sign a document."

With that, Pepper left directly, leaving the space to Iron Man and Nick Fury.

"Tony Stark, I'm here to talk to you about joining the Avengers." Nick Fury sat down on the sofa without ceremony, as if it were his own home.

The Avengers?

Iron Man's heart immediately stirred. He suddenly remembered the last question of the answering system.

That question asked who was the spiritual leader of the Avengers. He had subconsciously thought the Avengers referred to the Earth's allied forces, but now it seemed, could it be this Avengers team?

"Go on." After a moment of thought, Iron Man said to Nick Fury.

"I thought you'd be more difficult to deal with." Nick Fury was slightly surprised. Iron Man's temper was much better than rumored.

He had originally expected Iron Man to show a disdainful look, indicating he had no interest in listening.

"As I said, this world is not as simple as it seems; there are many extraordinary powers."

"To deal with the threats of these potential supernatural forces, I plan to form a team, a special team."

"More precisely, a team composed of people like you, who possess special talents." Nick Fury stated his purpose directly.

"I agree!" Iron Man hesitated for a moment, then readily agreed again.

After learning the truth of this world, Iron Man actually wanted to meet other people with extraordinary powers.

Nick Fury was slightly taken aback. He didn't expect things to go so smoothly. All the persuasive words he had prepared for Iron Man turned out to be unnecessary.

And Iron Man's current behavior also seemed somewhat inconsistent with his usual patterns.

"Could it be… because of that answering system?"

Nick Fury quickly guessed it. Most likely, it was that answering system that made Iron Man change his attitude.

"Mr. Stark, you don't have to answer now. I can give you time to consider fully." Nick Fury crossed his legs and said to Iron Man.

"I've already thought it through," Iron Man said emphatically, then eagerly asked, "So who else is in our alliance? Is there a Hulk, or a guy in a cape who's proficient in magic?"

"Mr. Stark, thank you for your support and cooperation. You will know these answers once you officially join the Avengers."

Nick Fury said calmly.

Then he changed the subject and suddenly added, "Now, let's talk about that answering system."
