The entire courtyard fell silent.
My palm stung from the force of the slap, but the sound it made against Palmer's cheek rang through the palace gardens like a gunshot.
Palmer's hand drifted to his face, shock written across his features as he looked at me with wounded eyes. Behind him, Sylvia barely contained her delight at the drama unfolding, while Jayden remained motionless, his expression carved from stone.
Ebony made a small sound of surprise. "What's happening?" she breathed.
None of it mattered to me anymore.
Not Jayden's reaction. Not Sylvia's satisfied smirk. Only Palmer existed in my vision, and the betrayal burning through my chest.
"When exactly were you planning to mention Lina?" My voice cut through the garden air like a blade. "Or did you assume I'd never discover the truth?"
