Jayden's POV
The document shook in my grasp.
I kept reading the same line over and over, hoping the numbers would shift, but they remained unchanged. The percentage glared back at me.
95% probability.
Those children belonged to me.
My lungs refused to work properly. I remained motionless, absorbing the reality I had desperately avoided confronting.
Abner stirred within my consciousness, his rumbling growl echoing through my ribcage. "I told you so!"
He began his restless prowling, circling inside my mind, his talons scraping against my inner walls like he wanted to shred everything in sight.
"I kept saying they were ours, remember? But you refused to listen. You even convinced yourself I was losing my mind."
I offered no reply. Words escaped me.
My legs threatened to buckle, my mouth turned to dust. My heart hammered against my ribs in confusion because having the answer right here only multiplied my questions instead of bringing clarity.
When had it occurred?
