Jayden's POV
I should have remained in that classroom, but the moment the door slammed behind Sylvia's friend, I bolted after her.
"Hold on!" I shouted down the corridor.
She was already moving fast, her steps quick and angry like she'd witnessed something forbidden. Her backpack swayed as she picked up speed, practically fleeing from me.
I managed to catch up and touched her shoulder lightly. She whirled around, and I saw fury blazing in her expression.
"What do you need?" she demanded harshly.
I held up my hands defensively. "You're friends with Sylvia, right? I missed your name back there."
Her jaw dropped slightly before she let out a cold, humorless laugh.
"Sallie," she replied with venom in her voice.
"Sallie, look, let me just..."
"Are you serious?" she exploded. "What exactly did I just witness in there? And with that girl?"
Her words bounced off the empty corridor walls, making me cringe and step back defensively. "I can make this clear..."
