Jasmine's POV
The porcelain fragments scattered across the floor like broken promises. I collapsed to my knees, desperately reaching for the shattered pieces.
"Stop." Jayden's command cut through the air like a blade.
His hand seized my wrist before I could touch a single shard, yanking me upright with enough force to make me gasp. My pulse hammered against his grip as he held me there, his fingers burning into my skin.
He refused to release me.
"What is that mark on their arms, Jasmine Toby?" His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper that sent shivers down my spine.
I fought to steady my breathing, forcing my expression into something resembling calm. "It's really nothing important. Just an old scar from when they were little. A kitchen accident."
The lie tasted bitter on my tongue.
Jayden's eyes turned molten. "You're terrible at lying, Jasmine."
