"What do you mean?" Douglas was the first to step forward.
Maria glanced at him, lips thinning.
But before she could say anything, everyone else chipped in.
"Did you not read it to the end?
"We gave so many reasons why we think Dahlia Warren isn't the right fit for it."
"How sure are we that you even read it to the end?"
The man who had spoken up about taking the position scrunched up his nose and joked, "Did you read it and perhaps think Maya was still new and shouldn't be taking such a position so soon?"
At that, all eyes darted toward Maria for a response.
Maya clenched her fist.
Since she couldn't express her annoyance in front of so many people, she made a mental note to deal with the man later.
"It doesn't have to be me. God knows I think there are better people to assume the position here, so if it's because the company thinks I'm still too new, then I don't mind someone else doing it as long as Dahlia won't be the one," she nodded, smiling graciously.
