"Backer? What backer?" Dahlia asked, confused.
The person was about to continue when Maya marched forward, pointing a finger in Dahlia's face in righteous indignation.
"I'm not saying this for myself, but everyone in this department. Today, you almost ruined us all."
"It's just been a few days since I started working here, so I wouldn't have taken the brunt of it. But these people have been working here for years."
"Imagine what the company would have accused them of if the servers really went down. They would've been fired, or worse—sent on months of unpaid leave. All because of you!"
She wasn't exactly putting her accusation into context, so Dahlia went silent for a while before raising both hands, lifting them in further confusion.
"All because of me? What did I do?"
Maya backflipped mentally.
