When one place is in difficulty, aid comes from all sides. Hoping against hope, we finally received supplies! Friends were posting their received supplies online. I can only say that the supplies we received were completely disproportionate to the property prices. Relatively speaking, my mother-in-law in the old district of Puxi received much better supplies than we did. Plus, as she lived alone and was elderly, the sub-district took special care of her, even delivering soup to her. She often called saying she had too much food and asked us to find a way to take some back. I thought, are we supposed to use drones to cross the Huangpu River? Impossible.
"What's for dinner today?" became the main topic in every household. I went from not knowing how to cook to being able to whip up a few dishes. Sugar-fried rice cakes became my son's favorite. When potatoes sprouted, we couldn't bear to throw them away, finding ways to fry them into potato chips. But before long, a savior arrived.
