Mark and the other two quickly passed through the fire door and ran to the short corridor on the left side of the Great Hall.
Screams and cries echoed throughout the Great Hall.
The three ran to where the exit sign was, and in an instant, a bright light flashed.
This was immediately followed by a shriek.
Clark turned his head and saw an electrical wire extending from behind the stage; a man who was passing by happened to step on the live wire and was trembling all over from the electric shock.
His eyes bulged, and his hair stood on end, making him look as if he were dancing.
"Run!"
Mark shouted at the two, "Hurry!"
Clark had no choice but to abandon the idea of saving the man, pulling Lana and quickly running outside.
As they passed through the corridor, a monster suddenly blocked their path.
It was crouching on the ground with its back to them, and upon hearing the sound, it suddenly turned its head.
Mark couldn't help but take a deep breath when he saw the monster's terrifying appearance.
Its face was covered in viscous blood, and its protruding teeth were stained with a small piece of unfinished internal organ, with a few drops of fresh blood dripping from it.
The monster was covered in bloodstains, and its White clothes were already soaked with blood.
Upon hearing the sound, the monster let out a low growl from its mouth, staring at the three with its grayish-White eyes that instilled fear at a glance, and began to stagger towards them.
At first, its speed was slow, but it gradually quickened.
"Run!"
Mark had already forgotten that he had Laser Eyes, and holding their hands, he ran forward at his fastest speed.
The three ran to the storage yard behind the Great Hall and forcefully blocked the door.
"Bang!"
The zombie slammed against the door from inside, and Clark and Mark, who were leaning against the door, were almost knocked flying.
Lana, standing outside the door, was already pale with fright.
The door was violently forced open, and the zombie stumbled out.
By this time, the three had already run into the storage yard.
Lana could see rows of orange-yellow warehouses.
It was open twenty-four hours, but the storage yard gate was tightly closed, with a small keypad on the door, and tall fences all around, topped with barbed wire.
Mark didn't care about anything else; he leaped up like a shark onto the fence, and in a few quick movements, he climbed to the top of the fence.
The barbed wire was old and dilapidated, clearly poorly maintained, and not electrified, having long become a mere decoration—like a deaf man's ear.
Mark easily bent the wire, but even so, he pricked his hands a few times, and his jeans also got a few holes.
With a "thud," he flipped over the barbed wire and landed on the other side of the fence.
The ground was hard, and upon landing, he felt a painful numbness from his calves to his knees.
Mark even suspected he had broken something.
After jumping to this side of the barbed wire, Mark looked at the warehouses bathed in the bright sodium lights.
"You two jump over, I can catch you."
He said to Clark and Lana on the other side of the barbed wire.
Clark could jump over, but Lana looked up at the barbed wire and almost cried.
"Lana can't jump over!"
"Then leave her!"
"No, how can we abandon our companion?"
Clark looked at Mark in astonishment.
"Because she's a burden."
Mark pointed at Lana, "She's not our family, Clark."
"She's my friend!"
Clark glared at Mark, and holding Lana's hand, he was about to leave.
"Don't go, Clark, I can handle this."
Mark squatted down, his eyes fixed on the barbed wire.
His Laser Eyes were not always effective; they only shot out when he faced danger or experienced emotional fluctuations.
Tensely staring at the barbed wire in front of him, his eyes accumulated red light.
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't shoot out the laser.
Sweat beaded on his forehead as he tried to recall the trick his father had taught him.
Concentrate, then recall something that makes you angry.
Something angry?
Mark immediately thought of Clark's willingness to abandon his brother for Lana just now.
"Sizzle!"
Under the excitation of his anger, the barbed wire was instantly cut open by his Laser Eyes.
Before Lana could react in shock, Clark pulled her into the storage yard.
The three ran past seven rows of warehouses in one breath, then ran across five more.
The smell of decay and burning assaulted their nostrils, and the three squatted behind a trash can between two warehouses, trying to curl their bodies as small as possible.
"What is that?"
Clark asked with a trembling voice.
"Zombies, I've seen them in horror movies."
Mark whispered, "If you get bitten, you'll become one of them, but don't worry, Dad will come to save us."
"Are you sure, Mark?"
Clark was trembling with fear at this moment.
He hadn't felt this way while running, but once they hid here, fear surged into his heart.
"I'm sure, because Dad said that as long as I'm in danger, he'll come to save me no matter where I am."
Clark buried his head, "Mm, I also believe Godfather, Godfather said he would protect us."
Lana, hiding at the very back, didn't speak; she bit her hand hard, trying not to cry out loud.
She was about to turn from Cinderella into an ugly monster; she wondered if her knight would still come to save her.
None of the three spoke, and the air fell into a deathly silence.
Clark looked up, gazing towards the Great Hall.
In the distance, a column of Fire shot into the sky, with steel roof panels, wood, and paper fragments scattered everywhere above the flames.
The air was filled with the smell of oil and smoke.
The main street was brightly lit, as if by a flare gun.
"I..."
Clark suddenly whispered to Mark, "I saw it!"
His voice was trembling.
Mark looked at him, "Saw what?"
Clark recalled the terrifying scene just now, "That monster that was chasing us earlier, the zombie you mentioned, he... he's Godfather's cousin."
Mark swallowed.
"You mean, Uncle Louis, the one whose funeral we attended last time?"
"Yes, it was him, I could recognize him..."
Before Clark could finish his sentence, a low growl was heard.
It was a low growl, as if a throat was clogged with phlegm, accompanied by a pungent smell of decay.
Realizing it was the zombie from earlier, all three nervously held their breath, not daring to even breathe.
"Click! Click!"
Louis's footsteps echoed in their ears.
Clark's heart was initially filled with fear, but upon seeing Lana behind him, he gritted his teeth, picked up a half-brick nearby, and prepared to rush out immediately if anything went wrong.
He was determined not to surrender, even with only this half-brick, he would protect Lana and Mark.
"Clang!"
Suddenly!
A sharp metallic sound suddenly rang out.
Lana watched in shock as a bright flash streaked across the night.
