Chapter 11: Past Newbies
Zein's Point of View....
We followed Supremo who was walking slowly. The guy who was still trembling until now was next to me, Onel and Fritzy were also with us, not making a sound.
If you think about it, spilling juice is a small matter for us, I mean we would get angry but it wouldn't go this far. I haven't seen the Dark Hell Jail or DHJ yet but I'm not dreaming of getting inside there. I am sure that it brings death to anyone.
"I don't want to die yet..." The repeating words that came out of the mouth of the guy next to me, who was Ferry, according to what he said earlier.
I felt pity but I couldn't speak up and go against Ace. Not now that he is burning with anger. I saw the devil hiding in him again. It's terrifying.
As we walked further and further away, we were moving further away from HU, I mean it's like the back of HU. There were just tall trees and tall grasses here. It's a good thing it's only noon so it's not hard to walk.
"I don't want to die yet..." He said to himself again, clearly about to cry any time soon.
I looked at Onel who had been sighing for a while.
"Once he said it, no more question. That's who Ace Craige is." Onel said.
"If I were you Zein, let go of the position. You wouldn't want to see the full devil hiding inside him." Fritzy threatened with a smirk.
"I am not scared." I said stiffly which made her laugh softly.
"Really? But me, yes. I saw once how he gets angry. Silent but deadly." she whispered again which I ignored.
Yes. I know that I haven't seen the whole of Ace yet and I admit that I also feel afraid of him. He is the President of this Hell for pete's sake. He is a devil with an evil mind.
We stopped at the single jail in the middle of this kind of forest.
It was entirely cemented. There was only a single door and it was a strong kind of steel that couldn't be easily destroyed. I couldn't see anything inside because it was dark. I wonder what was inside it? Death.
Ace took something from his pocket. A key, the key to the DHJ. He opened it and a putrid smell wafted out which made Onel, Fritzy and I step back.
The steel door had traces of dried blood. Shit! What kind of punishment is this?
"Don't let me to push you inside." Ace said emotionlessly, looking seriously at the guy who was just quiet and seemed to accept his end.
We shivered when the smirk on the lips of the guy who was now laughing softly widened.
"I know you Supremo. I know your secret."
Ace slowly smirked too and now approached the guy.
"I know. That's why I brought you here. I also know your secret." Ace replied which made the guy frown.
What secret are they talking about? Are there still secrets hiding?
"H-How did you know?" He asked.
"I'm not that shallow that I would punish you like this just for spilled juice. I know what you did, you're the one who killed Grace." Ace said. "You know Jane won't like this if I tell her."
"Grace is the girl you witnessed being killed Zein."
I swallowed when I realized what Onel said. He's the one who did it? Is he a member of BBG?
"No please." He knelt in front of Ace who laughed at him.
Is this how evil Ace is? But this guy is also a devil for killing a person. Evils.
"I won't tell her unless you go inside of DHJ, now!"
He quickly ran inside along with Supremo locking the door. We didn't hear any sound. What happened?
"This is our job Ms. Zein, we need to kill all sinners. Everything that needs to be gone, must be gone."
I had no choice but to follow them, and now we're heading back. I glanced at the DHJ again. I don't know what I saw, but I'm sure there was someone else inside.
It gave me the shivers, so I quickly caught up to them.
"The President is the one who implemented that punishment." Said Onel, smiling now, as if nothing had happened to them.
Ace? He was the one who created this death penalty? But why? God! This monster is terrifying. I need to be more careful around him now. I don't want what happened to that man to happen to me.
"Supremo! Supremo!"
We stopped walking when a woman blocked our path, now kneeling in front of us.
"Where is Ferry? Supremo, please, where is he?" She asked.
Ferry is the man who was sentenced earlier.
"He's gone." Ace replied sternly.
She started wailing, so I approached her. I led her to a bench. Everyone sitting there left after seeing me.
"N-Number 9? You're one of them too!" she yelled.
"Sorry." Was all I could say.
"S-Sorry?" She asked, clearly surprised.
"You're apologizing?" She asked.
"I'm sorry. I didn't want what happened to Ferry." I repeated.
"You're part of the Highest 10! You shouldn't say sorry! You're even a Secretary! All high-ranking people never apologize!"
I just sighed. Because of one person's actions, we are all affected. Now they're comparing me to demons too. Psh.
"What's your name and what's your relationship with Ferry?" I changed the topic.
She wiped her eyes before looking away.
"I am Jane and Ferry is my boyfriend." She said sadly.
He was her boyfriend? Is this the woman Ace was talking about? But why did Ferry react that way when Ace threatened to tell Jane that he killed Grace?
"I don't know what to do anymore. They killed my only best friend Grace, and now my boyfriend."
SHIT! Her best friend was Grace, who was killed by Ferry, her boyfriend? Is that why he reacted that way when Ace threatened him? But why did he kill Grace? What was his reason?
"What's your name, miss?" Jane asked me.
"Zein." I replied.
"You're the newbie, aren't you? In five years, someone new has only just arrived here again." she said.
5 years ago? Others were sent here too? Another question I need to find the answer to. "What happened to them?" I asked.
"They died. All of them." she replied, making my hair stand on end.
Is it possible that we will suffer the same fate as them? Terrifying.
"But for the first time, there was peace in HU. For the first time, the bloodshed stopped. It was because of her." Jane said again.
Who is she? Was she one of the new people back then too? What was she doing? Why did everything become peaceful then?
"But it didn't last long. Everything has an end; everything returned to the way it was. What's more terrifying is that the demons who were once tame became wilder."
I don't understand anything! What really happened back then?
"Ate Zein, that woman has long been surpassed by you." she said, making me frown. "She became a member of the Highest 10 two months after they entered here; you, in less than a month. The only difference is that the Supremo, who is the son of the former headmaster of HU, fell in love with her. Okay Ate Zein, I have to go."
I just watched as Jane disappeared from my sight.
The former Supremo, the son of the former headmaster, fell in love with her? Who? Who is that woman? Who is the former Supremo? Who is the headmaster she's talking about?
How did they all die? What happened, 5 years ago?.
