Chapter 15 - chapter 14

Chapter 14: Death

Zein's Point of View.....

We immediately ran in the direction where we heard the scream. My heart was pounding hard in my chest. I knew something bad had happened again.

A man was immediately lying flat on the ground in front of us. He had been stabbed in the back three times. He was probably stabbed from behind without realizing it.

"Get that corpse out of here!" We were surprised when Teacher Kath was already in front of us, visibly annoyed by what she was seeing. "It's blocking the way!" she added.

The guards arrived and dragged the lifeless man away. They dragged him away as if they didn't care about the corpse. They didn't even respect him; they defiled him. Heartless.

"And you all!" Teacher Kath pointed at all of us. "What are you staring at?!" she said, which quickly made the students disappear.

Only the seven of us remained here, including Liam who was inviting us to leave.

"Aren't you going to do anything?" Mia asked in disbelief.

Even I was surprised by what they did. It was as if a student had died and no one knew who did it, but they didn't care.

"What do you want us to do? Waste time on a useless person? If you want to, do it yourselves. Excuse me."

She passed in front of us with a raised eyebrow. The seven of us were left again in disbelief.

"Someone died, but they don't care?" Mia still asked in disbelief.

"They're just showing that everyone here is useless, that we shouldn't waste time on them," said Matt, deep in thought.

"That's just how they are, they don't care about those who died and especially not about the killer," said Liam, who was now smiling again.

What's wrong with this guy that he can still smile? Is he also a devil? Like them? What is he hiding inside him?

"It's better if we just go back to the dorm," suggested Dave.

"Okay, I'm going first," Liam said goodbye, looking at Vanessa who wasn't looking at him.

What's going on? Is it true? Maybe he's just planning something?

"You go ahead, I still have something to do in the office," I said and let them walk away first.

I glanced at the floor again where there was still blood until now. Another one died and no one knew who the killer was.

My attention was immediately caught by the drops of blood leading to a building. I just felt myself following these drops.

Following the trail brought my feet to a room that looked like it hadn't been used in a long time. I glanced at the empty hallway before turning my gaze back to the doorknob.

It's dangerous if I open it. I don't know what's waiting for me, harm? Maybe, but I know I can't do anything when curiosity gets the better of me.

I just felt myself turning the knob and pushing it open slowly. It was a bit hard to open and the door rattled when I tried to push it. While pushing it, I immediately felt that I was not alone.

A dark room greeted me. I fumbled for the light switch, I felt a little shiver when I felt the switch was a bit wet. The light just flickered on and off and a messy room appeared before me.

I turned pale when I saw my hand that opened the light switch was bloody. I glanced at the switch and there was blood on it, which I think the killer had also touched earlier.

I held my breath every time the light went out, and my fear intensified when it came back on. The flickering light, which was a bit dim, seemed like it could go out completely any second.

I looked around the entire room. Right, it was an old classroom. The chairs were overturned, as was the teacher's table. The dusty smell was irritating to my nose.

Where is he?

I turned pale and my heart briefly stopped beating when the door suddenly closed. I just felt myself being grabbed and violently pushed against the wall.

"Why did you follow me?!"

The pounding in my chest disappeared when I recognized this guy, even though the light was flickering.

He was one of the three guys who beat up Nazzer. The guy who was stabbed earlier was probably one of these three, but why? Why did he kill his own friend?

"W-Why? Why did you kill your friend?" I asked.

I could still feel my knees trembling from the shock.

He seemed to come to his senses and let me go. He kicked an overturned chair which created a loud noise.

"No, I need to kill Raven. He needs to die." he said.

I just noticed that he still holds the knife which I think he used to stab Raven.

His clothes are also full of blood. His hand holding the knife is also full of blood.

"Why?" I asked.

He faced me at the same time as the light turned on briefly. He was crying and seemed regretful of what he did.

"If I don't kill him, me. They will kill me." he answered.

Shit! This is who the red hair was referring to. She said that these three men would die and he was probably the one who threatened this man.

"But killing is against human law, especially God's law."

"I know, I had no choice. I need to kill him to survive."

He suddenly left the room so I quickly followed him. It's a good thing it's class time now so there are no students wandering around, or they would see the blood on this man's clothes.

"Wait!" I stopped him but he seemed to have heard nothing and just went straight.

I almost ran at the speed he was walking. He still held the knife.

He stopped when he saw who was coming, the third man who was with those who beat up Nazzer.

"Paulo? Why are you holding a knife?" He asked while looking at Paulo's hand. "Have you heard the news? Raven was killed." he said sadly.

I remained standing on their side as if waiting for their next move.

"I know Julse, I killed him." Paulo answered which made Julse stop.

They were silent for a few seconds.

Paulo presented his hand holding the knife in front of Julse. His forehead creased.

"Use that so you can escape." he said to Julse.

"W-what are you talking about?" Julse asked confused.

"I know if you don't kill me, they will kill you." Paulo said.

Even I was stunned after hearing that. This is something else, they are truly manipulators. They blackmailed these three men so that they would kill each other. How cruel.

My eyes widened when I saw Julse pull something from behind his back, it was too late to realize it was a knife because he had already stabbed Paulo who now lay flat on the ground.

It happened so fast, in an instant Paulo was also lifeless.

Does everything end here? Is this remaining man, Julse, truly safe?

"I'm safe," he said to himself and smiled as if in a daze.

Wrong. He wasn't safe after all, maybe safe from harm but safe from his conscience?

Just like what happened earlier to Raven's body, the guard also took Paulo's body like garbage.

Julse suddenly disappeared.

His conscience will not spare him.

I returned to the SSG Office and found no one there. I sat at my table and tiredly leaned my back on the chair.

Everything that happened earlier came back to me. It all started because of a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding that the person they beat up was just an ordinary guy. They were wrong and this hastened their lives.

I looked up when I heard the door open.

"How's investigating Ms. Shion? Did you find out who the killer is? Did you gain anything?" Teacher Kath asked while going to her table. "No, right? You gained nothing. So, why would we waste our time on a person if we know we won't gain anything." She reasoned.

Is that really how they treat everyone? If someone is useless, they don't care about you. Is that really their principle?

"Even so, at least you should have paid attention to that incident, a life is what we're talking about Teacher Kath," I said.

"A useless life. They are even lucky," she said. "They won't experience the disaster that is coming." she added.

There's a disaster? Is this it? Is this really our end?

"A disaster that spares no one."

We stopped talking when the door opened and Fritzy and Onel entered.

"Oh dear! This is stressing me out! Bodies are scattered around. Disgusting." Fritzy said dramatically.

"Someone died again?" I asked.

"Committed suicide to be specific. Yes, jumped from the rooftop to the ground floor." Onel replied.

"W-What's the name?"

"According to what I heard, Julse."
