"School bullying defies all logic," I stated firmly.
"What your daughter desperately needs to learn is basic respect—for others and for her own individuality. Her cruelty stems not only from her own twisted nature but from your complete failure as a parent."
Homer's voice cut through the tension. "This isn't love—it's toxic enabling. How do you manage to sleep at night?"
Zack's voice cracked. "I'm deeply sorry. I had no idea this was happening. But she's still just a child. Please, let her go. Punish me instead—this is entirely my fault."
Watching Zack crumble like this, I realized I wouldn't extract any more useful information from him. Yet I couldn't simply let Brynlee walk away—doing so would dishonor Sibyl's memory. The problem was, I had no clue how to handle this mess.
I approached Palmer. "Mr. Greyson, what kind of sentence would Brynlee typically face for something like this?"
