Chapter 3 - First Day

...

Done with eating our breakfast, we packed our lunch boxes and left home together, as my little sister guided me to school.

Thankfully, my new school is mere walking distance from my home, so going to and fro is no problem.

And for some strange reason, my younger sister has also started to attend the same school from this year onwards... must be a coincidence, right?

Thankfully, we are not in the same grade, as even after skipping grades like crazy this year, she is still in the grade below mine. Otherwise... making flirty moves on girls in the presence of my own little sister... sounds kind of like a punishment game to me.

"Big sister, don't worry! I will be your guardian in this new school of ours! And... I will be protecting you from shadows too..."

Wait, what did she mumble at the end? I couldn't quite catch that properly.

Ah, no matter. My cute little sister would never cause harm to me! I am a hundred percent confident in that.

To be honest, though, her frank and cheeky attitude has always helped me lower my tightened nerves. Even today, it would be a lie to say that I wasn't a bit nervous regarding the start of my new life with. Feeling as if my heart is in my throat and my legs feeling as soft as jelly, I tried hard not to look as nervous outwardly.

My past life experiences offer no help here. It's natural to be afraid of failure, yet the worst possible scenario was constantly bothering me. That of a repeat of my last life. I feared not getting hated, but being ignored.

The thought keeps on being in the back of my mind, making me unable to calm down.

The only good thing going for me this time around is my looks. Frankly, I'm pretty good-looking for a girl my age, even with the high standards of this world. And yet, I couldn't find any special gaze from the girls walking around me. Rather, they all seemed to avoid looking in my direction, with a strained expression on their faces.

Although I tried not to let it get to me, I had kind of hope that in a world with so few boys, an all-girls' relationship would be the norm. Well, it mostly is, but... here we are...

Fuuuh... it's kind of chilly these days, as the cold air brushes against my thighs under the skirt. Should I have worn stockings after all?

But, I could only see them as ero items and couldn't calm down my... uh, emotions upon trying them out. I just couldn't act that daringly on my first day of school! Maybe I can try them on some other day...

I separated from my little sister after she guided me to my classroom. Watching her walk away to another floor for the middle schoolers while glancing back at me nervously made me giggle a bit at her cuteness.

According to my research, the first day of school is mainly all about introductions, some instructions from the teachers, a little activity for class interactions... before we are done for the day.

Sounds kind of anticlimactic, I would say. Oh well, it is my first day of school in this lifetime! No need to be all whiny out here. Let's go~!

As I opened the classroom door and walked in with high spirits, many students were sitting in their own groups, talking to each other. All girls in sight till now...

I had heard from my little sister that it's rare for a boy to attend school properly. There are even some all-boys' schools that they all wish to flock to.

Uuh... how dreadful to imagine an all-sausage fest. No, thank you. I am feeling pretty happy being here.

The girls here all studied hard to get into this school, not only to become big achievers in the future, but also to capitalize on their possibly only good chance of meeting a boy regularly. Alas, some boys only register for schools to get a decent paycheck, only to end up studying at home. Talk about being a total rip-off!

Going by the number of desks, there must be forty students in the class. As I took a random seat by the window and overheard the conversations around me, there seemed to be thirty-four girls students in this class, with the leftover seats reserved for the boy candidates.

Is having six boys in a class of forty considered low or high? Well, according to the conversations going around me, it's way too generous.

Most schools get one boy in a class, or maybe none at all. However, this school managed to get six boys signed up just for one class. What sway these people have, right?

Anyways, here I am, sitting alone in a daze. My attendance number should be right in the middle of the class records.

Shit... I feel so alone, so lonely. Why don't I have any friends? I truly need to talk to someone for now.

Huh..? The winds blow into the classroom from the window, blowing and caressing my long pink hair that I didn't choose to tie up today...

An endless, clear sky. Blue as blue can be...

No, I must not escape reality here. If I don't try talking to the people around me, nothing would change.

This is my moment now. Courage... I need to gather my courage to talk to the girls around me. What kind of idiot mess would become of my goals and dreams if I don't fit into my class first?!

Soon, the class teacher walked into the class as she cleared her throat to catch our attention.

"Everyone, a good morning to you all. And a special welcome to Saint George High School for all our new students this year. I am your class teacher for your high school term, Thea Cage. As such, I will be responsible for all affairs other than the subject matter for this class. Your daily attendance will be noted by me before the start of your classes for the day. Since today is the first day of the yearly academic calendar, there won't be any subject classes for the day. However, we would be doing a few fun group building & interactive activities together."

Hey, why is everyone glaring so hard at the teacher? Did she say something wrong??

"Ahem, also... the boys attending this class are here already. Please give them a warm applause. Be mindful of being respectful and caring towards them."

The girls around me became really excited at the teacher's words, and soon, three boys opened the door as they walked into the class. The three began to chat with each other without minding the teacher's presence. And eventually, they were directed to their seats by the teacher.
