"Bye" she called as I slid into the gate. As she strode off I peeked through the gate as I watched her...I was scared.
Earlier this evening before we went to the river I saw those guys...the same guys that beat Aivah up barely a year ago.
~
My brother jeffery had been missing for two days and he never did that without calling us infact he never spent more than a day outside so I was worried. I called him several times and he didn't take my calls so I checked his location which is never on but this time it was miraculously on.
*What would jeffery be doing so far from home?* I wondered as I went deeper into what can be best described as a slum. I arrived there at night so it was then times creepier.
The smell of engine smoke and soot filled my lungs as I spat, I almost had to jump so I wouldn't fall into one of the portholes.
WHAT THE HELL IS JEFFERY DOING SOMEWHERE LIKE THIS...FUCK!!!
My GPS pointed to a creepy looking passage way that seemed like it would fall any second, that's when I heard it...shouts...and a familiar voice.
"Shit!"***blow***"fuck you Henry!"***"arghh Aivah I am so going to feed your eyes to vultures"***"hahaha"...blood soaked Aivah laughs while plunging a dagger to the guy's left arm.
As I watched all this happen my tummy recoiled in fear and pity for Aivah...but there on the dirty and slimy floor behind her lay jeffery... unconscious. He was seated with his back resting against the walls of the passage way.
Aivah was protecting Jeffery...my eyes widened as I saw more guys troop in. Before I could do anything which I very much couldn't do; one of them landed a heavy club on Aivah's head..."kathunk" she landed face down on the floor.
They were kicking and hitting her even though she was now unconscious like my brother.
I had to think fast and before I knew my frail body darted past the open area and they chased after me, I made sure to lead them far away from the passage.
I was lucky I was putting on black clothes, I easily darted to the left and fell down before sliding across the dirty, disgusting floor into a corner.
I kept as quiet as possible as they ran past me splashing my precious face with dirt and whatever else smelt so strong in the soot.
When I made sure they were all gone I crept out and ran to the passage. Jeffery was awake by the time I got there, he was bleeding from his side; my once handsome and hunky brother was now battered and bloodied everywhere. His hair sticking to his face.
He was carrying Aivah; "Jeffery" I frowned as I ran towards him,, "you are severely injured, you can't carry her with these bruised ribs" I try to pry his hands off her.
His eyes widened when he recognized me, his face which was in a tight frown when I saw him now faded into what I think would be embarrassment. He turned pale under all the dried up blood on his face, his shoulders slumping down.
"What are you doing here Sean? It's not safe for you to be here, how did you find me?" He quizzed as his gaze darted past me scanning the area.
"You haven't been home for two fucking days Jeff, mom and I were worried as fuck; we haven't even told dad yet...pause... Your location was on too" I called as I tried to match his quickening pace as he took a path I didn't notice before, it was then times dirtier and smellier than the main entrance.."ewww" I scrunched up my nose as I tried not to make contact with the gooey walls.
"My location? I never turn that shit on" he panicked as he vigorously searched his pockets. "I don't have my phone" he deadpanned as he stopped in his tracks making me bump into his back. "I think this is a trap" he said...pause... "Whoever turned on my location must be following us" he whispered genuine worry written all over his face.
*Ring*
We spontaneously turned to Aivah who was still knocked out cold. Jeffery looked at me before turning to her pocket...
*Incoming call...from Mami...*
A gasp escaped Jeffery's mouth as he rejected the call. That was his phone, so Aivah turned on his location... He turned off his phone and told me to do same. My hands were shaking for no reason as I turned it off.
"Where the fuck are they?"...
"Shit, shit, shit"...
Horror filled my tummy in the worst possible way when I heard those hoodlums.
"Quick, Sean follow me" Jeffery runs with Aivah on his shoulders, clutching my hand in a way that am sure would leave a bruise but still helped keep me sane as we ran through the dark tunnel; occasionally brushing against the disgusting surroundings, I felt cutting off any part of my body that touched to filthy walls.
We ran out of the tunnel and fell into a pool of water, chemicals and shit. I felt like dying on the spot.
Aivah woke up then. She had her dagger to Jeffery's throat in seconds before withdrawing after seeing his face which was now in a tight frown.
My long hair was wet so it covered most of my face. I wanted brush it back but on second thought I decided not to, do that Aivah wouldn't know me.
He gaze darted towards me as Jeffery dropped her on the Stony ground. "Shit" she groaned before my brother stood in-between me and her, one hand holding mine and one pointing at her.
"I have done this much for you, so leave now...pause... and don't follow us" he ordered, his tone so fierce I flinched.
She sat there on the floor as we turnt and ran for what seemed like minutes before stopping, our breaths ragged and shaky... "What just happened Jeffery" I demanded trying to stay calm while catching my breath. It felt like my lungs were about to burst open.
"Can we not talk about this right now?" He mumbled as he walked towards the bushes on our left.
"Wait here" he pointed at me before disappearing into the bushes. I turned to take in my surroundings.
I was surrounded by bushes, it was very dark but I could make out a house just some meters to the front, it looked like it had been there for years judging by the low hung roof threatening to fall at the slightest nudge.
I could here water...it was more like a trickle but I was sure there was a water source nearby; I followed the sound.
Twigs broke under my feet as I made my way under the moonlight. I walked past the creepy house. I could smell dry wet leaves as I moved further, I occasionally looked back to see if Jeffery was back yet.
Turning around the house I walked a few more meters before seeing the water source. Without thinking I jumped into the stream, violently washing the dirt off me.
I washed my precious face and hands some more..."Seriously?!" I turned to find Jeffery standing with a frown so deep I waded out of the water quickly.
"I nearly had a heart attack thinking something had happened to you and you are here doing what?.. swimming? jeez Sean" he turned and I followed him back past the house to find a bike.
"So this is what took you so long" I whispered as he got on and threw a helmet at me. "Get on smigol" he sounded irritated looking at my wet clothes.
I didn't care; I put on the helmet and got on.
Mom was sitting on the porch half asleep when we got home. "Heavens!!" She shouted when she saw us. "Where were you lot? Why did you leave without telling me Sean? Why didn't you call Jeff?" She held us clutching her heart worry written all over her face.
"Let's go inside mummy" we both said in unison.
