"Hmph!"
"Hahaha, I apologize, Ashido-san. But when you called me senpai, I just couldn't help it. Come on~ how about we go for some ice cream after school? My treat?"
Hiro said with a playful smile. At this moment, he and Ashido had found a seat near the front of the class. The pink-skinned girl was pouting and glaring at him due to the prank he played earlier.
"No. Your apology is not accepted. You've started the prank war, Ryugamine-senpai~ Peace shall only come when one side has been crushed…"
Mina straightened her chest. Her tone was haughty as she declared.
"Is that so? Ashido-san, I hope you don't regret your words."
"Ohohohoho! I'm sure I won't. Prepare to live your remaining days in terror of the Alien Prank Queen!"
"Um, what are you two doing?"
In the middle of their banter, a calm voice interrupted from the side. There, a girl with dark sea-green hair had her head tilted, staring in confusion at the antics of her seatmates.
"Ehehe, it's nothing. Just settling some personal grudge between us. By the way, I'm Mina Ashido. And that hateful guy is Ryugamine…um, hey Ryugamine, what was your first name again?"
"Hiro. Hiro Ryugamine. A pleasure to meet you."
"Hiro Ryugamine? So you're the top scorer on the entrance exam. I'm Tsuyu Asui. Ashido-chan, Ryuga-chan, you're very interesting."
"Huh? Wait, no wonder your name was so familiar! You're the number 1!"
Mina slammed the table as she stood up and pointed at Hiro. The class started to clamor when they heard what she said, especially a certain explosive blond guy who glared daggers at Hiro's back.
"Woah dude! You're THE Hiro Ryugamine? You're so manly! Your points were more than double mine!"
From behind their seat, a spiky red-haired dude who had been chatting with a guy with yellow hair turned to them after hearing Mina.
"Oh? Are you the second place, Katsuki Bakugo? For a guy who only got villain points, you're much more cheery than I imagine."
Hiro said in feigned surprise. He inwardly smirked as from the corner of his eyes, he saw said explosive guy trembling and ready to blow up.
"Nah dude, I'm Kirishima Eijiro, the guy in third place. This is Denki Kiminari. Yeah, that Katsuki guy was manly too. He surpassed everyone else just from taking down the robots."
Hiro saw Bakugo calm down at Kirishima's words and felt a bit regretful. He was curious what sort of explosive reaction he would have towards someone who surpassed him, but it seemed Bakugo was far more in control of his emotions than expected.
The five of them; Mina, Tsuyu, Kirishima, Denki, and Hiro conversed animatedly while their other classmates slowly started to enter the room.
Mina expressed her surprise about how much Kirishima changed, then began to lead the topic on what kind of hero training they were gonna go through.
Time passed and soon, almost everyone in class had arrived. Probably because he wasn't the first in the exam, Bakugo didn't arrogantly place his feet on the table, and thus didn't have an altercation with Iida.
However, the scene of Iida apologizing to Midoriya still happened, followed by Uraraka coming in and praising him. In the middle of their conversation, a bland voice sounded.
"If you're here to socialize, then get out. This is the hero course, not the friendship club."
Rising from his sleeping bag, a lanky guy with messy looking hair and a long scarf tied around his neck stood in front of the class.
"From the time I appeared, it took 8 seconds for everyone to quiet down. Time is a very precious resource, and you lot aren't using it rationally."
He gazed at everyone in the room with a languid gaze and continued.
"I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shota. Pleased to meet you. Now that introduction is over, put on your gym clothes and head out to the grounds. Go quickly."
Without waiting for a response, Aizawa walked out.
Everyone stared at each other, bewildered about the spontaneity of what just happened. Still, they quickly adapted and went to the locker rooms.
Here, Hiro finally knew who he replaced among the 1A class- Minoru Mineta, one of the few who shared the same testing grounds as him during the entrance exam.
That was slightly regrettable. Mineta may be a pervert, but his Quirk is very useful for support against villain fights. Hopefully, the little guy would continue his pursuit of being a hero.
After getting changed, everyone gathered at the school grounds. Aizawa stood there, his eyes on his watch. He only looked up at them after everyone arrived.
"5 minutes and 11 seconds. Just barely acceptable. Well then, for your first class, we'll conduct a Quirk apprehension test."
"Quirk apprehension test? What about the entrance ceremony? The guidance sessions?"
Ochaco asked, earning nods of agreement from some of the students.
"If you want to become heroes, those stuff are just a waste of time. As your teacher, I get to decide what we'll do in our class- freestyle educational system, that's the teaching philosophy of our school."
The students quietly accepted this statement. Many of them were even awed, thinking UA was really different from other schools.
Satisfied with their reaction, or lack thereof, Aizawa began to talk about the details of the Quirk Apprehension Test.
While he was doing so, Hiro had his arms crossed in front of his chest, watching everything with a sense of nostalgia.
15 years had passed since his reincarnation to another world. What was happening before him was like watching the live-action adaptation of My Hero Academia.
"Ryugamine, how far could you throw the ball in middle school?"
"Our middle school had no such test, sensei. We only had push-ups, curl ups, and endurance running tests."
Hiro didn't show any signs that he was distracted at all, smoothly answering Aizawa's question.
However, his reply caused Aizawa's eyebrow to twitch. Cursing the failing education system under his breath, he said.
"It doesn't matter. Here, take this and throw it as far as you can. Use your Quirk. Do whatever you need to do. Just don't leave the circle."
Holding the ball in his hand, Hiro pondered how he should go about this. This was a good opportunity to systematically test the limits of his current strength, so he'd try to go all out.
At the side, the rest of 1A watched with bated breath. They knew Hiro was powerful, having taken first place in the entrance exam and all. But they wanted to know just how powerful he truly was, and what his Quirk is.
Aizawa's scrutinizing gaze also locked in on Hiro. He observed in great detail, silently evaluating this student's potential.
Hiro didn't care about the viewers from the side. He only smiled back at Mina and the others who cheered for him, before getting in position to throw.
First, make the right arm bones a little more elastic and reinforce the related muscle group.
Stomp with full force using the left foot to build up strength.
Guide the resulting energy like flowing water across each muscle fibers, boosting its power by double from the initial amount and finally-
Add his own strength and THROW UPWARDS!
"BANGGG!!!"
The ground cracked and the air exploded. Everyone flinched and covered their ears, unprepared for this sudden disaster just by watching from the sidelines.
Finally, after a while, the ringing in their ears subsided. They stared at Hiro's feet in awe, where the ground had shattered, before turning to their frozen homeroom teacher to understand what was going on.
"…it's important for us to learn our limits. That's the first rational step to figuring out what kind of heroes you'll be. With that said..."
Aizawa gazed at Hiro with a strange look in his eyes, before showing everyone how much the ball traveled.
"Strange. Why does it only show 8 meters? And it's lying flat, too. Is the machine broken?"
"That's not an 8! That's-!"
"I-i-i-infinity!?!!"
Their jaws dropped. Everyone simultaneously turned their heads to Hiro, who had a satisfied smile as he stretched his right arm.
"So my throws can already reach the orbit, huh? That really is helpful to know, Aizawa-sensei."
Aizawa twitched. Although the kid's tone sounded genuine, why does it feel like he's being jabbed at?
Still…
Aizawa once again checked the Rangefinder and confirmed the results. His other hand clenched into a fist as he inwardly grinned.
This kid…although his performance in the entrance exam had given the teachers an initial estimate of his strength, he didn't expect him to still hide this much power.
Their school just admitted a monster with the potential to rival All Might.
He stared at Hiro who was surrounded by his classmates. Hearing their chatter about how awesome it is to be able to freely use their Quirks, his eyes narrowed.
"You think this is fun?"
Aizawa's irritated voice was like the switch of the radio, instantly making everyone go silent. They stared at the figure of their homeroom teacher, a nagging feeling of fear slowly creeping up from within.
"You're hoping to become heroes after three years, and you think it'll all be fun and games?"
"Right. I forgot to mention. The one who place last in this Quirk apprehension test will be deemed hopeless and promptly…expelled."
Seeing the stiff and scared expression on their faces, Aizawa grinned.
"Welcome to the UA Hero Course."
A/N: According to Google, 500 tons of strength is required to throw an object the size of a baseball past the orbit. I don't know how accurate that is, but for this story, we'll assume that is the case.
