Cherreads

Chapter 1 - Chapter 01

In a world invaded by greed, selfishness, and the obsession with possession and control, an old idea has resurfaced—the contempt for women and viewing them through the ugliest lens in history. They are reduced to bodies meant only to give birth to men and satisfy desire, stripped of any true value.

Days pass, until the day comes to announce the heir to the family fortune. Everyone gathers in a large mansion, where the grandfather declares that the second son is the most deserving and rightful heir to inherit everything. A furious voice interrupts him.

Siren's Father:

"What? How is this possible? I am the one who worked tirelessly to build these companies into what they are today. I am the one who deserves them!"

The grandfather slams his hand on the table, letting out a filthy, malicious laugh.

The Grandfather:

"Repeat what you said—hahaha! How could I ever allow that, when you failed to give me a single male child? You claim you are worthy? That wretched woman gave birth to nothing but filth like herself."

Siren's Father:

"Oh, thank you. You've reminded me of something I never forgot."

(He looks at his father and brothers with eyes filled with hatred, malice, and vengeance.)

"The time for revenge has come."

He signals his men to enter and surround everyone.

Siren's father had been planning his revenge since that cursed day—choosing the most brutal methods imaginable. In front of everyone—his father, his brothers, their children, and Siren, who understood nothing—he stripped himself of all humanity and committed the vilest acts over several days. He showed no regard for blood ties or kinship, nor any mercy for his daughter, who was forced to witness scenes so obscene and horrifying they shattered all morals and decency.

Then began a nightmarish ritual of torture, ending in a flood of blood that engulfed the house before Siren's eyes. He had never loved her, never missed a chance to torment her—taking revenge on her for her mother, as if Siren had chosen to exist and robbed him of his inheritance. He turned her life into a stage of misery and suffering.

༺ Linda ༻

Elsewhere, another kind of suffering existed—another scream of a heart that went unheard.

Linda's Father:

"Welcome back. Isn't it early? You should have honored us with your presence at eight in the morning, madam."

Linda's Mother:

"Lower your voice. I have no energy to endure you. Don't forget—I have nothing to do with you. Mind your own business."

He stood up, adjusting his clothes with visible irritation, unable to tolerate the sight of his wife.

"As long as you live in my house, you will respect my rules, woman. I don't care what you do, as long as it doesn't harm my reputation. We are not divorced yet. Do you understand?"

Linda's Mother:

"To hell with you and your rules. I don't care about your filth. Understand this—I am not your servant."

The Maid:

"Sir, Madam, Miss Linda's fever is very high. The doctor cannot come. Please, do something."

The next sound was a slap landing harshly on the maid's cheek—from her mistress.

"Sick? Do you think such tricks work on me? Get out! Tell her I won't give her any money to waste on her useless nonsense. Get out!"

The maid's body trembled, tears filling her eyes as she turned to Linda's father, hoping he would intervene. But with a cold, stone-like face, he replied:

"Don't look at me. I have nothing to do with these childish tricks. I'm not a money machine for her to take whatever she wants whenever she wants."

They both left without a shred of concern, abandoning their daughter to collapse under the weight of illness. The maid, along with the driver and another servant, secretly took Linda to the hospital using their own modest savings.

Constant quarrels and indifference from her parents shaped Linda into an arrogant girl who trusted no one but herself. She despised everyone around her, having never known warmth or affection within her family. She grew up hiding her weakness and fragility, using pride as armor to shield herself from injustice, cruelty, and the overwhelming emptiness in her heart.

༺ Dina ༻

Dina's Mother:

"My dear, help me a little. Would you peel the potatoes, please?"

Dina:

"Of course, Mom. Give me a moment, I'll finish this and come right away."

Dina's Father:

"Listen, don't leave until you're done. And you—do it yourself. I don't have time to wait. Everything must be ready for delivery early tomorrow."

Dina's Mother (furiously):

"If you complain later about dinner being late, don't blame me. We are not your servants, understood?"

He constantly insulted and belittled them for being women, yet depended on them heavily.

"If only you had given birth to a son, things wouldn't be like this. It's an honor for her that I rely on her. Women are useless—nothing but complaining. If Martin had been born first, our lives wouldn't be this way."

"And who told you that lump of fat that he would be more useful than her? Don't forget—our situation improved since she started working with you and helping me during my illness. She excels in her studies despite not even attending university. You're the useless one here, belly-first."

Dina:

"Dad, Mom, stop it—now. Inhale, exhale. I'm done with the work. Mom, focus on what you're doing. I'll finish the potatoes. Just stop arguing."

Her father could never accept having a daughter as his firstborn. To him, a woman was only fit to be a housewife, valued solely for serving her husband and raising children. A man deserved everything. Thus, Dina's life was a constant struggle between conflict and fragile peace.

༺ Jane ༻

Jane:

"It's starting again… mercy, Lord."

Jane's Father:

"What mercy, woman? Why all this noise so early?"

Stepmother:

"I'm missing my precious necklace! How do you expect me not to scream? You know how much it means to me!"

Father:

"Which necklace? You have many. How should I know which one? Maybe you left it somewhere."

Stepmother:

"Impossible! It's valuable to me. Help me find it, or else—!"

"Alright, alright. Calm down. Everyone will help look for it. No need to scream. I'll go deaf one day because of you. Come on, everyone, let's search."

There was never a day without her screams over trivial matters. Jane never had a peaceful childhood. Even in his youth, he endured her tyranny. Yet, despite everything, he maintained a strong bond with his father.

༺ John ༻

John's Mother:

"My son, do you feel better? Should we go to the hospital just to be safe?"

John:

"I'm fine, Mom. I took my medicine. I just need rest."

John's Father:

"Another episode? Damn it! Why are you like this? Every time the surgery gets close, it's postponed. Are you planning to kill me before my time?"

Mother (coldly):

"If you don't shut your mouth, I'll cut out that filthy tongue of yours. You know me—don't make me continue."

John whispered:

"I'm sorry I was born with a hereditary illness. I didn't want a life like this either… I wished for death long before hearing your words, Father."

John suffered from a congenital heart disease. He lived torn between his father's curses and occasional affection. Yet his maturity and awareness helped him endure what life imposed upon him.

༺ Sean ༻

Sean's Father:

"What's new? Did you secure that deal, or were you useless as always?"

Sean:

"You do nothing but complain. Small deals may mean nothing to you, but they're opportunities for growth. Here's the contract. Now I'm going to sleep—don't disturb me."

Sean's Mother:

"My son, I prepared the bath for you. Go rest."

"Unbelievable—he carries the weight of a mountain and still gets spoiled. And I'm nothing, of course."

Before Sean could reply, his younger sister Darin spoke:

"Isn't he the reason for your success? Stop complaining. He deserves this care, not you. If it weren't for your poor judgment, we wouldn't be like this. Leave him alone."

Their mother looked at her daughter proudly, then warned her husband with her eyes.

"My upbringing shows in you, dear. But he's still your father—don't speak to him that way again. And you, behave better with your father."

Sean was forced to work while studying, burdened by life and responsibility, supported only by a mother who tried her best to give her children comfort.

Everything was sealed within their hearts, leaving only silent moans echoing inside.

So how will the heroes of this story live their lives?

And will fate ever smile upon them and bring them together?
