Chapter 296: Afternoon Nap After Eating Too Much
Kaede and his group were really lucky with the restaurant they chose. When the dishes they ordered arrived, everyone was stunned because the portions were much larger than they had imagined.
Looking at the large bowl of sea urchin rice in front of her, Eriri swallowed and said, "It... it really seems like a lot, Kaede-kun. If I can't finish it, I'll count on you for the rest!"
"..."
Kaede glanced at Eriri's portion, then at his own, and couldn't help but feel a little daunted: "Hmm... I'll do my best."
He knew Eriri's appetite very well. The bowl in front of her, plus the other things they ordered, she would absolutely not be able to finish, no matter how hungry she was.
And if that were the case, the leftover food would naturally go into his stomach, as food shouldn't be wasted.
Anyway, let's start eating first.
"Itadakimasu!" x6
It was all seafood. Although there was some initial concern about the portion sizes, after the first bite, everyone was too busy to think about that, because it was genuinely delicious and the ingredients were very fresh.
"Mmm~~ The sea urchin is delicious! This crab leg is also delicious!"
One by one, the girls abandoned their usual sense of decorum and ate in large mouthfuls.
Utaha had ordered a plate of charcoal-grilled crab legs, and at this moment, she was eating with sparkling eyes, saying, "In Tokyo, I often go to good restaurants, but it's impossible to always get seafood this fresh. The taste is really good. I wonder if there are other delicious things."
Kaede heard Utaha's words, thought of something, and said, "Here, you must try the grilled lamb. How about we find a good restaurant tonight and go eat grilled lamb?"
Kaede had done the most research among everyone, basically knowing what things in Hokkaido were a must-try, and lamb was one of them.
Hearing Kaede mention lamb, Eriri turned her head and asked curiously, "Is it similar to the lamb we had in hotpot before?"
"Yes, but most of it here in Hokkaido is grilled. I wonder what the difference is from what I've eaten elsewhere before."
He had eaten countless grilled lamb dishes in China, but this was his first time trying it in Hokkaido.
Listening to Kaede briefly talk about grilled lamb, the few people who didn't usually eat it began to look forward to it, and at the same time, their speed of eating seafood didn't slow down at all.
The meal started a little after 12 o'clock and lasted for a full hour. Not a single person in the group could walk out normally. After slowing down for about ten minutes, they slowly paid the bill and left.
"Ah... I'm stuffed. I want to go back and take a nap..."
Hugging Kaede's arm, Eriri looked at the snow by the roadside and said, "Let's play in the snow tomorrow. Anyway, it looks like it won't melt for the next few days."
Kaede knew Eriri would be like this. Although he had helped her with one-third, she had eaten the rest herself, which was quite impressive.
Looking at the others, Kaede asked, "What about you guys? Do you want to walk around nearby this afternoon?"
The President, as expected, was the first to shake his head, saying, "I want to take a nap. I didn't sleep very soundly on the plane."
No, you slept the soundest; you fell asleep less than ten minutes after takeoff... Eriri also needed to rest, and Kaede would naturally accompany her. Plus, the President wasn't coming out either, so the others discussed it. Anyway, today was the first day, and there were still four more days, so they decided to rest this afternoon and recharge their spirits.
So, everyone returned to their lodging, made some tea, and then went back to their respective rooms.
After laying out the futons and washing her face, Eriri took off her socks and slipped under the covers, saying with a comfortable expression, "Kaede-kun, aren't you taking a nap?"
"Hmm? I'm not sleepy, Eriri. You rest first."
Kaede smiled and shook his head, taking out the laptop he had brought with him. Although they were out for fun, he still brought a laptop out of habit, just in case.
"Hehe, alright then, I'll go to sleep first. Good afternoon~~~"
After saying good afternoon, Eriri closed her eyes and took a nap.
Kaede, in the heated room, put on his headphones, imported the photos he took on his phone today to his computer, edited them, covered everyone's faces with nurarihyon character avatars, and then posted them on Twitter.
Of course, Eriri's avatar was the one she drew herself for her Twitter.
[Merry Christmas everyone! Year-end vacation has begun. I'm traveling to Hokkaido with some friends. The food is delicious, and I'm stuffed. I'll be relaxing and having fun for the next few days, and I'll be uploading photos regularly!]
After posting these, Kaede stretched and started browsing the internet casually, looking at comments about the Konosuba anime, or discussions about novels and manga.
Konosuba's first season had only one episode left until its finale. Online reviews had been consistently good from beginning to end, so the second season was greenlit for production after only a few episodes aired. It was probably already in production and would air when the April anime season started.
Perhaps because she wasn't at home, Eriri woke up in less than an hour and a half, whereas at home, she would usually sleep for two hours if she took a nap.
Rubbing her eyes, Eriri sat up and said, "Ugh... Kaede-kun, I'm thirsty."
Looking at the tea on the table that had already cooled, Kaede smiled and said, "Wait a moment, I'll pour you some tea."
"Mm-hmm!"
Nodding groggily, Eriri looked towards the window. The afternoon weather was very good. But thinking of the wind outside earlier, Eriri couldn't help but pull the blanket up higher and said, "Forget it, I won't go out to play. Let's wait until tomorrow."
Soon, Kaede came in with a cup of hot tea.
"Here, drink slowly."
"Thank you, Kaede-kun!"
Taking the teacup and sipping slowly, Eriri looked at the computer that was still on and asked, "Kaede-kun, have you been online all this time?"
"That's right. I posted a tweet, then looked at some discussions on online forums, and also searched for fun things to do in Sapporo. Time flew by."
"Hehe, I'm awake now, Kaede-kun. I don't want to go out, so what should we play in the room?"
"Well, for just the two of us, if we're not playing games, there are only a handful of things we can do," Kaede thought for a moment and said, "How about you ask your seniors over there? If they're not resting, how about we play some cards?"
There were quite a few things prepared in the house, and playing cards were naturally among them.
"Okay! I'll go check right now!"
Saying that, Eriri crawled out from under the covers and started to get dressed.
