Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Forgive me

Alchemy's eyes blazed with fury as she spat, "What the hell, Marvel! Did I not make it crystal clear? I. Do. Not. Love. You."

Marvel's smirk infuriated her further, "You do, sweetheart, you just refuse to admit it."

"Get out of my room, now!" Alchemy's voice was a low growl, her anger simmering just below the surface.

Marvel walked out, leaving her to slam the door behind him.

The tension was broken by Aunt Kathy's cheerful shout, "Lunch is served, darlings!"

Kwame's eyes widened, "Oh, Mom, you've outdone yourself these are all my favorites!"

Aunt Kathy's smile was warm, "Anything for my sweet boy."

Kwame's dad attempted a apology, "I'm sorry I couldn't welcome you properly, son, I had a..."

Kwame interrupted him, a hint of anger in his voice, "Mom already told me Dad. No worries."

Marvel's voice was laced with concern, "Kwame, are you really okay with me and Alchemy? You seemed a bit.. off when I told you about Alchemy and I."

Kwame snorted, "What gave you that idea?"

Aunt Kathy's head whipped around, confusion etched on her face, "What are you talking about?"

Marvel's grin was back, "I'm dating Alchemy, Aunt Kathy. And, yes, we've kissed."

"That is not what is transpiring, we are not engaged in a romantic relationship. That kiss was merely a mistake," Alchemy elucidated, her explanation precise and deliberate.

"I believe you two should sit and resolve these matters," Aunt Kathy said, her concern evident.

"There is nothing to resolve. I meant what I said to you before your departure, Kwame," Alchemy affirmed looking at Kwame, her tone measured.

Kwame, gazing at his mother, responded, "Thanks for the nourishment, Mother. I am satiated," and he excused himself.

"You both exhibit exceedingly shameless behavior," Tansy declared, her indignation palpable.

"Table manners kids!" Aunt Kathy exclaimed, and the atmosphere in the place became hushed.

Alchemy remained to assist Aunt Kathy in organizing the aftermath of lunch.

"Thanks for your assistance, dear," Aunt Kathy expressed gratitude.

"It is nothing, Aunt. I enjoy working with you," Alchemy replied courteously.

"May I pose a question to you?" she inquired.

"Certainly, Aunt," Alchemy responded.

"What is unfolding between you and the boys?" she asked.

"Marvel is the one precipitating the misunderstanding. I do not love him. I refuse to become his girlfriend," Alchemy asserted, trying to conceal her irritation.

"I believe Kwame harbors affection for you, therefore, I advice you to manage this situation with prudence. I do not wish for my sons to detest one another because of a girl," Aunt Kathy declared.

"Feel free to request my assistance whenever you require it," she appended, offering unwavering support.

"I am deeply worried Aunt, Kwame refuses to talk with me. I am certain he already disdains me. I shall attempt to mend this," Alchemy whispered, wiping away her tears.

Tansy, who had been eavesdropping the entire time walked away. She contemplated what Alchemy had implied for some time and entered her room.

"Do you truly not love Marvel?" she asked after Alchemy invited her to enter.

"Indeed, Tansy, I'm interested in Kwame," Alchemy responded, her voice trembling with emotion.

"Every indication suggests Kwame loves you, he is merely bewildered. He does not know what to believe," Tansy asserted.

"He does not even glance at me," Alchemy lamented.

"To resolve this, you must make Marvel aware of your romantic disinterest in him. Make him understand that you two cannot be united," Tansy explained, seeking to alleviate the tension.

"I am undertaking this because of Kwame. I remain angry with you," Tansy pronounced before departing, her heart heavy with resentment.

Kwame was lying on his bed when he heard a gentle knock upon his door.

"Come in," he whispered, his voice trembling with anticipation.

"I know I am the last person you desire to see, yet I bear a confession of utmost importance," Alchemy declared as she entered, her eyes reflecting profound sorrow.

"I don't want to hear anything you have to say, please leave," Kwame said, rising with anguish tightening his chest.

"You are shattering my heart, Kwame, you are breaking my spirit. I love you," Alchemy murmured, drawing nearer to him with desperate yearning.

"I am sorry Alchemy. I do not feel the same affection, I beg you leave," he said, his voice suffused with regret.

"I can perceive the truth within your eyes, Kwame. You love me," she whispered, touching his face with tender reverence, her heart swelling with hope.

"And what if I do love you? Set me free, get out," he pleaded.

"I did not kiss Marvel, I do not love him. This is merely a misunderstanding," Alchemy explained, her eyes heavy with tears of confusion.

"I cannot accept this, my brother is now in love with you," he responded, his conscience weighed by familial concern.

"But it is not him I love, it is you I want," Alchemy sobbed, her longing intensifying.

"I left for a week, could you not wait?" Kwame asked, tears welling in his eyes, his spirit yearning for reconciliation.
