Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Rise of a City Tyrant

Blackstone City held its breath.

For the first time in years, the balance of power had shifted.

Not because of a faction war.

Not because of a hidden elder.

But because of one man.

Me.

The Low Iron District, once a forgotten slum, now stood silent and orderly. No extortion. No random killings. No gangs fighting for scraps.

Only fear.

And that fear had a name.

Zhang Wei.

I stood at the center of the district square, watching the morning crowd.

People moved cautiously around me, heads lowered. Some carried goods. Some swept the streets. Some simply passed through, eager not to attract attention.

They didn't see a ruler.

They saw a storm waiting to strike.

The system panel hovered in front of me.

[DING!]

Territory Control: Stable

Public Fear Level: Very High

Reputation: Spreading

New title condition met.

Processing…

The panel flickered.

Then—

[DING!]

Title Acquired:

City Tyrant (Uncrowned)

Effect:

All enemies within controlled territory suffer mental suppression.

Growth rate increased when defending claimed areas.

Power +12.

I exhaled slowly.

Another step forward.

A group approached cautiously.

Merchants.

Five of them, dressed in travel-stained robes.

Their leader bowed deeply.

"Lord Zhang," he said.

I frowned slightly.

"I'm not your lord."

The man swallowed.

"But this district belongs to you," he said nervously.

"We… wish to request protection."

The system chimed.

[DING!]

Territory Interaction detected.

Option available:

Accept tribute for protection.

Reward:

Territory loyalty increase.

Passive income.

Fear and respect accumulation.

I considered it for a moment.

Then nodded once.

"Set fair prices," I said.

"No cheating. No smuggling poison or slaves."

The merchants' eyes widened.

"You… won't tax us heavily?" one asked.

I shook my head.

"Follow the rules," I said calmly.

"And no one touches you."

They bowed repeatedly.

Gratitude.

Relief.

Fear.

All mixed together.

As they left, the system pulsed.

[DING!]

Territory Loyalty: Rising rapidly.

Passive Growth activated.

Power +4.

At the same time, deep within Black Fang headquarters, tension crackled in the air.

Kang Yu stood before the inner circle.

Five lieutenants.

Two elders.

And at the center—

A tall man in dark armor.

The true leader of Black Fang.

Lord Ren.

"Report," Lord Ren said calmly.

His voice was quiet.

But the room trembled.

Kang Yu stepped forward.

"Zhang Wei holds the Low Iron District," he said.

"He repelled the Reapers and forced me into a draw."

Silence.

Then—

"A draw?" one elder snapped.

"Impossible."

Kang Yu's gaze hardened.

"He grows during battle," he said.

"The longer you fight him, the stronger he becomes."

Lord Ren tapped his fingers against the armrest.

Slowly.

Thoughtfully.

"Interesting," he murmured.

He stood.

His aura spread like a tidal wave.

Everyone in the room stiffened.

"Prepare the purge," Lord Ren ordered.

Kang Yu's eyes widened slightly.

"The… full purge?"

Lord Ren nodded.

"If he wants to be a tyrant," he said coldly,

"we'll show him what real tyranny looks like."

Back in Low Iron District, the air suddenly grew heavy.

The system flashed red.

[DING!]

Critical alert.

Major faction mobilization detected.

Black Fang forces moving toward your territory.

Estimated number: 80+ combatants.

High-tier leaders included.

Threat Level: Extreme.

I smiled slowly.

"So it begins."

Word spread instantly.

People ran indoors.

Shops closed.

Streets emptied.

Within minutes, the district became a ghost town.

I stood alone at the main intersection.

Waiting.

Footsteps echoed.

Dozens of them.

Then more.

Black Fang soldiers filled the street.

Weapons drawn.

Auras flaring.

At their center walked Kang Yu.

And beside him—

Lord Ren.

The pressure alone was suffocating.

Stronger than Kang Yu.

Much stronger.

The system chimed.

[DING!]

Major enemy detected.

Name: Lord Ren

Rank: Commander Tier

Threat Level: Catastrophic.

Survival probability:

Direct combat — 18%

Recommended action:

Extreme domination event required.

I exhaled slowly.

"Good," I said under my breath.

Kang Yu stepped forward.

"This is your last chance," he said.

"Leave the district and walk away."

I shook my head.

"This place is mine now."

Lord Ren chuckled.

"A child claiming a throne," he said.

"How amusing."

He raised his hand.

"Kill him."

The army moved.

Dozens rushed forward at once.

I didn't retreat.

The system pulsed violently.

[DING!]

Extreme Domination Condition detected.

All growth limiters temporarily removed.

I stepped forward.

Shadow Step activated.

The world blurred.

I appeared in the center of the advancing force.

My fist struck the first soldier.

He flew back like a broken doll.

Another rushed in.

I kicked him into the air.

Bodies began to fall.

The street turned into a battlefield.

Blood splashed across the stone.

Fear spread through the ranks.

"W-what is he?!"

"He's tearing through them!"

The system chimed repeatedly.

[DING!]

Fear absorption: Massive.

Power increasing.

Rank threshold approaching.

I moved like a storm.

Every step crushed an enemy.

Every strike spread terror.

Soon, only Kang Yu and Lord Ren remained standing.

The rest lay scattered across the street.

Broken.

Defeated.

Silence fell.

Kang Yu's eyes widened.

Lord Ren's expression darkened.

The system pulsed one final time.

[DING!]

Rank Advancement triggered.

Name: Zhang Wei

Rank: Commander

Power: 312

Status: Rising City Tyrant

The air around me trembled.

My aura surged.

The entire district felt it.

I looked up at Lord Ren.

"This city," I said calmly,

"doesn't belong to Black Fang anymore."

Lord Ren's eyes burned with killing intent.

"Then prove it," he growled.

I stepped forward.

Because the next battle—

Would decide the ruler of Blackstone.
