BWDC:SDDK Chapter 11: Bat-Branded Box Weapon!
The next day, during the daytime, at Professor Agasa's Research Institute.
"What?! You encountered people from that criminal organization?"
Professor Agasa turned pale with fright, jumping up from the sofa in an instant.
He never imagined that Shinichi, returning to the Kudo residence after such a long time, would happen to run into something like that!
Fortunately, Shinichi wasn't hurt because of it; otherwise, he wouldn't have known how to explain it to Yusaku and Yukiko...
He secretly patted his chest in relief, letting out a long breath.
Looking at Professor Agasa's massive overreaction, Conan sighed.
His gaze swept around the interior of the research institute. Not seeing the person he was looking for, he finally asked, "Professor, where is that Bat... where is that Ren guy? Where did he go?"
He had always felt that Ren Ichimonji's words were unreliable.
But yesterday, he truly encountered a woman codenamed Sherry.
This forced him to re-examine the authenticity of everything he had been told.
To this, Professor Agasa fell silent. He didn't speak, but merely motioned with his eyes.
Conan: ?
The "God of Death" elementary student looked at Professor Agasa in confusion.
It wasn't until a shadow covered him from behind at just the right moment that he suddenly reacted.
Swish!
As if by reflex, an anesthesia needle flew out.
Then, it landed right on the rim of a coffee cup, serving no purpose.
Standing behind Conan, Ren Ichimonji was startled.
Not cool, bro. What's the grudge? A needle the moment we meet?
Seeing it was Ren, Conan immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
He hadn't been like this before.
Not until he was struck from behind by a certain mysterious man in black because he wasn't paying attention.
"Sorry..." Conan said in a low voice.
Rarely seeing the little detective like this, Ren reached out his "wicked" hand and ruthlessly rubbed Conan's head.
Ho-ho, I always said this kid had a big head.
The guilt Conan felt for almost accidentally hitting Ren with the needle quietly slipped away. He slapped Ren's hand away and stared at the mysterious coffee-loving man, his fur bristling instantly.
"What are you doing?!"
Oh boy, the little detective is hissing.
"See? Anxious again," Ren pointed a finger and shook his head. He then silently took a step back to prevent another "zero-frame" attack.
He had been lucky to block it just now; if luck hadn't been on his side, he'd be out cold.
However, speaking of which, he was quite curious about what Conan and Professor Agasa were talking about earlier. Ren had only come over after hearing Agasa's exclamation; he hadn't heard the beginning.
But it seemed Conan had something he wanted to ask...
"Coming over in such a hurry, what do you need from me?"
The great Little Batman of Beika was still willing to listen to the troubles of his littlest Robin—
When he looked for a Robin, he never needed the other party to know they were Robin.
What? Conan is too young?
As everyone knows, child labor is an indispensable part of the Bat-family; it must be experienced.
"I went home and encountered the people from the Black Organization you mentioned," Conan said.
To this, Ren merely took a sip of his coffee with a calm expression.
What's the big deal? Just ran into some members...
Wait, what? You actually encountered members of the Black Organization at this point in time?!
Ren's eyes widened, only to squint them back down in the next second.
Yes, it was necessary to maintain his personal cultivation as "Batman."
Next time, he'd have to ask Phantom Thief Kid how he kept that "poker face" so steady.
Suppressing the urge to ask for details, Ren waited for Conan's next words.
Conan glanced at Ren and continued, "The leader was a tea-haired woman in a white lab coat. She led people to search my house for traces of my return. I heard the others say... her codename is Sherry."
"It's the same name you told me last night."
The little detective narrowed his eyes. "She looks very much like Masami Hirota. Is there some connection between them?"
Ren: ?
Who was Masami Hirota again... Oh, Akemi Miyano's alias, right. He didn't remember the names from the very early plot lines very well.
"They are sisters."
"Masami Hirota's real name is Akemi Miyano. Sherry is her younger sister, and her real name is Shiho Miyano," Ren said profoundly, taking a sip of coffee.
He was trying hard to maintain his "prestige" as Batman.
However, in Conan's eyes, Ren hadn't had any prestige to begin with.
Conan rubbed his chin, pondering the two names. He still suspected if Ren was weaving lies to trick him. But after last night, his attitude had shifted to being "half-doubting, half-believing."
"Akemi Miyano, Shiho Miyano..."
"What? Miss Masami Hirota is also... a member of that Black Organization?"
He suddenly thought of something and looked up at Ren in surprise.
In his impression, Masami Hirota was someone with some schemes but a kind heart. How could someone like that be a member of a criminal organization like Gin and Vodka?
"No, that's not what I should be considering now..."
"Where should I go to find Akemi Miyano and Shiho Miyano?"
—Good question.
Ren blinked. He wanted to know the answer to that too.
Akemi Miyano's last appearance in the anime started at a certain bank. As for which bank...
He really didn't remember. What sane person would remember the name of a one-off minor location from the early chapters?
Compared to that, Shiho Miyano was even more of a mystery. The anime never mentioned the name of the pharmaceutical company she worked at. Even the "Great Batman" didn't know where to find her.
"...I only know that Akemi Miyano works at a certain bank and might be planning to rob it. Shiho Miyano works at a pharmaceutical company with a gas chamber. I don't know the rest," Ren said quietly, sipping his coffee.
"However, if you investigate them one by one, you'll eventually find them."
"By the way, next time you encounter a case, give me a call. Your friendly neighborhood Beika resident will arrive at the scene at any time to grind some KP... I mean, to serve the people."
...Did you just almost say KPI?
Conan's gaze suddenly became helpless.
Although it felt like Ren's words were the same as saying nothing, at least it narrowed down the investigation time...
At the very least, he would accept this favor. It was just a matter of making an extra phone call; he'd just call Ren next time a case popped up.
The little detective let out a yawn.
He had originally intended to sleep a bit before dawn, but after that incident, he couldn't sleep. He was exhausted now.
Better get some sleep...
He looked down at the hand in front of him, then looked up at Ren, offering a question mark.
"What are you doing?"
"Got any spare change? I'm going to open a bank card to join the common folk," Ren said righteously.
Noticing that Conan and Professor Agasa's expressions were a bit off, he quickly said seriously, "What's with those looks? Do you really think Batman is a millionaire?"
"As everyone knows, Batman doesn't even have the money to buy a bicycle for his dearest Robin!"
