Chapter 37 - Page 37

Thank you, everyone! As the title says—you are the true heroes!!

Chapter 42: Defeat You with Your Own BGM!

"Is he really that kind of person?"

At that moment, hearing Superman praise them as the true heroes, a warm surge rose in the hearts of many present.

Only Nick Fury remained calm, a trace of doubt flickering across his face.

According to the intelligence he possessed, Superman was not nearly as kind as he appeared.

After all, to this very day, not a single one of the missing scientists had ever returned home.

Boom!

Almost everyone looked at Peter Parker with admiration.

A thunderous crash shattered the silence.

Suddenly, a figure burst out from the ruins of the building where Thor had been buried, shooting straight into the sky.

The already heavy clouds thickened even further, completely blotting out the sun. Darkness descended as if night itself had fallen, a colossal shadow enveloping the land.

"Mr. Superman…"

Peter turned around, locking his gaze onto the figure hidden within the storm clouds, as though preparing to meet him head-on.

"Watch out!"

A voice suddenly rang out behind him—Captain America.

Peter slowly turned his head. The Captain spoke with unmistakable concern.

"Thank you. Please… take good care of him."

Peter nodded slightly, surprised, then spoke in a low voice toward Nick Fury and the others in the distance.

Turning back, he looked up at the figure gathering lightning amid the clouds.

So… how far has it gone?

The next instant, Peter slowly clenched his fist.

A strange ripple spread from his body.

Pebbles and dust around him began to float upward, spiraling into a miniature whirlwind that revolved slowly around him.

Boom!

Another deafening blast erupted. Dust exploded outward, and spiderweb-like cracks spread across the solid ground.

Peter shot into the sky like a cannonball.

"You're right—this world's changes are far beyond my imagination."

Captain America looked up at the figure soaring skyward and spoke to Nick Fury beside him, his voice still brimming with emotion.

Meanwhile, in a laboratory on the outskirts of New York…

Countless reporters and science enthusiasts stared in shock at the glowing "star" hovering at the center of the lab—radiant like a miniature sun.

At that moment, it looked almost like a miracle crafted by God Himself.

"Hahaha! I did it! I finally succeeded!"

Doctor Octopus's mechanical tentacles rotated continuously around the miniature sun, stabilizing it as he excitedly announced his success to everyone present.

His overwhelming joy was contagious.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

Including Otto's wife, everyone burst into applause.

Only in a corner unseen by the crowd, Gwen Stacy, dressed in a Spider suit, felt a growing sense of unease.

She could see the seemingly stable miniature sun releasing golden flames—like solar flares.

"Hey, what? Superman's at Times Square? And someone calling himself the God of Thunder is challenging him? Got it—I'm on my way!"

Amid the applause, an ill-timed shout rang out.

After hanging up, a reporter immediately led his crew out of the lab.

"What?! Superman vs. the God of Thunder?! Is that real?! I'm coming—this is huge!"

That reporter's departure triggered a chain reaction. Within a minute, nearly all journalists received the same news and rushed out.

In less than sixty seconds, the once-packed laboratory was nearly empty.

Only a handful remained.

"Eddie, you're not going? Anything involving Superman is front-page material!"

"As for this experiment—who's going to care about it tomorrow?"

A cameraman continued filming calmly, unmoved by the chaos.

Before leaving, his friend reminded him one last time.

"Forget it. This experiment is more groundbreaking than Superman. If I leave now, I'll regret it forever."

The young reporter shook his head firmly.

"Suit yourself!"

His friend didn't argue further and ran off—afraid of missing the spectacle.

"No! You can't leave! Why are you leaving?! My experiment succeeded! This is a breakthrough! It could earn me the next Nobel Prize!"

Seeing people vanish one after another, Otto's excitement twisted into desperation.

He had devoted more than a decade to this moment—yet now…

Zzzzt—

Perhaps distracted by his excitement, one of his mechanical arms failed to repair the energy shield torn by the "solar storm."

The next instant, a strange gravitational force burst from the miniature sun, sweeping outward.

The reinforced laboratory groaned as if seized by an invisible hand.

Creeeak!

Metal warped.

Crash!

Glass shattered.

But instead of falling, the shards were pulled violently toward Otto's wife.

"What?!"

Frozen in terror, she screamed helplessly.

In the next moment, a figure in a Spider suit dropped from above, scooping her up and dodging the deadly fragments.

"Doctor! It's out of control! The experiment has failed—shut it down now!"

Gwen shouted urgently.

"No! It hasn't failed! I can control it—I will stabilize it!"

Otto looked almost insane.

"No. This experiment is doomed. Even if your shield blocks all energy leakage—including gravity—the continued buildup will only make the consequences worse."

"Huh?"

High above Times Square, Peter suddenly sensed an immense energy surge in the distance.

More importantly—it was calling to him.

"Could it be…?"

He looked toward a familiar direction, realization dawning.

"Damn it! You dare get distracted while facing me?!"

Seeing Peter's attention waver, Thor roared in fury.

"Thor, right? Let's finish this quickly. I've got something else to deal with."

Peter withdrew his gaze and spoke calmly.

"So eager to be defeated? Then I'll grant your wish!"

Thor's pride burned. He raised his hammer, ready to charge.

"And one more thing…"

"What? Afraid? It's not too late to admit defeat!"

Thor sneered.

"Hey—does anyone have a speaker? Could you play some upbeat background music for me? Thanks!"

Peter shouted toward the ground.

"I've got it!"
