Chapter 15 - Chapter 13: The Archfiend Single-handedly Topples a Mountain (Part 2)

The people from Breezewind Town themselves, however, weren't of much use.

It only took three days for the new town to materialize amidst the lush mountains and clear waters.

For the sake of appearances.

That elder from the Bloodfiend Den, Elder Lowell, simply waved his hand and carved a new river that now wound around Breezewind Town. With his Nascent Soul Stage cultivation, such a small feat was an easy matter.

Once Breezewind Town was complete, they carved a massive stone tablet and planted it upright at the entrance with their bare hands. The two words "Breezewind Town" were striking.

"A perfect finish."

He instructed his subordinates, "Get these people settled. I'm going to report to The Exalted One."

"Yes, Elder Lowell."

The moment Breezewind Town was finished, Lawrence Lowell went to see Javier Sinclair to report on their progress.

Javier Sinclair listened and replied indifferently.

"I know. Go and claim your reward."

"My thanks, Exalted One."

"Have Nerida take that woman to Breezewind Town. I am entering seclusion for a while. If anything comes up, handle it yourselves."

"You can enter seclusion without worry, Exalted One. I and the other disciples will protect the Lady and the Young Master."

'That's not what I was talking about.'

Javier Sinclair: "..."

"Get... Get out..."

'So annoying.'

His figure vanished in an instant.

Watching The Exalted One depart, Elder Lowell scratched his head.

'Ever since The Exalted One got a partner, his temper has gotten even worse. Is it because he's going into seclusion and won't get to see the Lady? Is that why he's in a bad mood?'

'That's highly likely.'

...

Celeste Grant was quite surprised when she followed Nerida to her new home.

"You call this a *town*?"

She was currently flying through the air in a carriage pulled by an avian Spirit Beast. Looking down, she saw a new town nestled between the lush mountains and clear waters.

"Did you build this?"

'In three days?'

'They built an entire town.'

'That's some impressive progress.'

The old Breezewind Town had a population of just over ten thousand, but this new place was a full ten times larger. It was now a large town capable of housing over a hundred thousand people.

Celeste Grant gripped the carriage railing, leaning over to look down. The town's layout was aesthetically pleasing.

"Who planned and designed this? It's beautiful."

"My Lady, an elder from our Bloodfiend Den's Bloodfury Hall led the construction."

Celeste Grant muttered, "Such a good eye for design. He's a master architect whose career was sidetracked by Cultivation. This is high-level work."

At that thought, her eyes lit up. She felt like she had just found a path to riches.

'Back before she transmigrated, she'd been a wealthy landlord who never had to worry about money. But after coming here, she was dirt poor, forced to count every last Spirit Stone.'

In this world's Mortal Realm, common people used gold and silver. But in the Cultivation World, the most valuable thing—and the universal currency—was the Spirit Stone.

'This Cultivation World is all about fighting and killing at the drop of a hat. What does it lack? Entertainment, education, all kinds of food for the soul. If she could combine her modern knowledge with this world, there would be so much room for growth.'

Celeste Grant rested her hand on the railing.

'It's decided.'

'After the baby is born, not only will I cultivate to become stronger, I'm going to make money. Piles of it. I'm going to become the richest woman in both the Immortal and Demonic Paths.'

Although she had been living comfortably these past few days, Celeste Grant had never considered relying on others.

'Anyone can prove to be unreliable.'

'The only person you can truly trust is yourself.'

As she was lost in thought, the Spirit Beast-drawn carriage slowly descended, coming to a stop before the entrance of a private villa halfway up the mountain.

"My Lady, this will be your new home. I've already had it prepared. What do you think? Do you like it?"

Celeste Grant nodded slightly.

"Thank you, Nerida. I like it very much. And please, thank The Exalted One for me."

"My Lady, The Exalted One has already entered seclusion. It may be some time before he emerges."

Celeste Grant nodded.

"That's fine. I'll thank him myself when he comes out."

'By then, my son might already be born.'

After Celeste Grant settled in, families began to trickle into the town throughout the afternoon, belongings in tow.

「At the town entrance.」

A few Demon Cultivators were quickly registering the new arrivals and assigning them houses. Each household with Spirit Stones was required to pay fifty to receive their deed. Those without would have to work off their debt of fifty Spirit Stones. This was mandatory, with no right of refusal.

Yet the townspeople were all beaming, bowing repeatedly to the cultivators and expressing their thanks. Some even had tears welling in their eyes.

"Thank you."

"Thank you, sirs."

"We have a home."

"My family has one too."

They had thought their homes were gone forever, that they would have to leave their homeland and eke out a living somewhere else.

They had always believed Demon Cultivators were evil, but at this moment, they weren't so sure.

The so-called Righteous Immortal Sects were still off searching for the Divine Beast and hadn't once asked whether they had lived or died. It was these people—the demon cultivators—who had not only saved their entire town but had also expended great effort and resources to build them new homes.

At that moment, a seed of doubt was planted in their hearts.

Are those on the Righteous Path always good? Are those from the Demonic Sects always evil? Perhaps not. The Righteous Immortal Sects had good people, but they also had their share of selfish, sanctimonious hypocrites. The Demonic Sects had their share of vicious fiends, but they also had good people among them.

They had been too narrow-minded.

Before, they had simply believed the rumors that all Demon Cultivators were evil.

"Thank you, you're truly good people."

Hearing this, the Demon Cultivator assigning the houses looked up, his face a mask of fury.

"Old Man Warren, you again! How dare you call us good people? Who are you trying to insult?!"

"Exactly," another chimed in with a sinister grin. "We're Demon Cultivators, you understand? Back in the day, I cut my way through the Righteous Immortal Sects so many times those bastards were left crying for their mamas. You should know, the good die young, but a scourge lasts for a millennium. I have no desire to be a 'good person'."

Standing nearby, Celeste Grant's lip twitched when she heard this, and she couldn't stop herself from laughing out loud.

'What a character.'

'Honestly.'

'Are these people from the Demonic Sects mentally sound?'

'Maybe to them, being called an Archfiend, a Demon Cultivator, or an Old Demon is what's considered normal.'
