Hearing the kitten's fierce meows, Cecilia tilted her little head up to look at Renee Jennings and said pitifully, "Renee, Kongo was mean to me again! It must hate me!"
"Let me talk to it." Renee Jennings squatted down next to Cecilia, lowered her head slightly, and peered at the little kitten under the bed.
In the dim light, the cat's eyes shimmered with a faint glow.
Renee Jennings began tentatively, "Kongo, hello. I'm Renee Jennings."
As soon as she finished speaking, the kitten immediately started meowing irritably, "Don't say it! Don't say it! You annoying two-legged beasts!"
The kitten's reaction was a bit over the top. Renee Jennings frowned slightly, finding it odd. "Kongo, why do you think two-legged beasts are annoying?"
Cecilia blinked, her chubby little face filled with confusion and curiosity.
'What's a two-legged beast?'
"Annoying! I told you not to say it and you're still saying it!" The kitten was furious. "Say it again and see if I don't bite you!"
