Ryuu is woken up by a phone call from his mom. He looks at the time, and it is 2 am. He answers the phone. Hey mom, it's nice to hear from you. Ryuu says. Hey honey, I just wanted to talk to you about how you are doing and tell you something. His mom replies with both a teasing and serious tone. Ryuu's face terns frosty. What do you want to tell me?
Honey, something is gonna happen in the next year. I want you to be prepared for it. Stock food, weapons and a place to take your friends so that they can be safe. Me and your dad will try to get back to you in a month or two. But honey this is gonna be bad. Our company has been tracking it this virus and we have no clue where it came from. But we know what it does and its terrible. He mom says with all seriousness.
Don't worry mom I already know. You and dad left documents here and I kind of read them. So, I've been building something to deal with it, at least where I am. Also, I can get you two here faster than a month or two. Ryuu replies with a tense but nervous voice. It take's several moments for his mom to speak again.
Honey, I am proud of you that you already started to get ready. Also, we can't leave yet. Just know that if we can't make it to you in time we will try to survive until you can get to us and if it's too late; just know we love you very much. Mom says with a tense but sad tone. I love you guys too. But I am gonna send some men to you and dad when I can. Just don't ask where they came from till I can get you both here with me. I have a girlfriend that I want you to meet. Ryuu says a conviction that brooks no argument.
The call ends and Ryuu picks up the data slate. He then orders a squad of guardsmen to exit the fort and stealthy make their way to the city so that can find and kill criminals that they find. He needs points now. (I need points, I need enough to get the stealth tech of the tau. With it I can outfit a Valkyrie with it and send a squad to be with my parents. I need to make sure that they are safe and can get back here.) Ryuu thinks as he begins to plan how he will do this without anything leading back to what he is building.
He sits on his bed thinking about what his parents company knew. If they were part of it all, if his parents were part of it. He wonders if he should show Rei what he is building and tell her what his mom just told him. Or should he keep it to himself and when the day comes deploy as many of his men as he can and save as many people as he can. Or just save the students at his school and their parents and just make saving those outside of the school a secondary priority. He has too much to think about and too much to decide on with not enough time to build a force big enough to save the whole city in one swift aggressive action.
He gets up and walks to the window. As he looks at the city and Rei's house, he brings up the data slate and orders the creation of assassins. He will use them to take out corrupt and criminal officials as well as Shido. If he is going to act this early, then he will at least make sure as few those pieces of trash in the city never live to see the day the world ends. Not as a mercy but as a pre-emptive strike so that his rise in the new world will be far smoother than it would have been.
He puts the data slate down on his end table and goes back to sleep. The city adds a new sound to its tapestry of sound. The sound of Las bolts flying and hitting the flesh of criminals. He sleeps to the soft meditative ding of points accumulating slowly but inevitably like the rising sun on a new day. He cracks a contented smile as he drifts off to sleep.
