Chapter 33 - Chapter 33 - Morning of Secrets

The Lost Vampire System Chapter 33 - Morning of Secrets

"What now?" Damion said as he looked at Jareth squirming on the ground. "You're not even in the sun."

"What is happening to Jareth?" Henry also asked as he slowly moved over to stand next to Damion. "I thought—"

"Me too," Damion snapped at Henry. "Though this is different. Check his bag for any medications that he hadn't told us about."

Henry nodded as he quickly made his way over to Jareth's backpack. He was about to open it when Jareth shouted with all of his willpower.

"Do not open that!" Jareth growled furiously as he was still trying to fight off the feeling. "There is nothing…in there…that will help…m…me."

Jareth continued to squirm.

"You have to tell us what is going on, or we're going to call the guards."

"Not necessary," Jareth croaked as he rolled over onto his stomach.

"Then what?" the Nephilim asked. "The sun has set, so this is more than just a sun condition."

Damion and Henry just continued to watch as the Half-ling was evolving. Half a minute later, Jareth stopped moving.

"You have stayed out of the sunlight and drank 1 gallon of water. Plus 10 exp," the system announced in a more human tone.

Should've mentioned that earlier, Jareth thought as he sat up from the ground as Damion and Henry were watching carefully.

"Evolution complete," the system stated. "Congratulations, you have now evolved into a Vampiric."

A Vampiric, Jareth thought. Are those what vampires are called? No, the system called it a Basic Vampire. I must be almost there.

The system continued. "You have evolved from a 50% vampire to a 75% vampire. All base stats will increase by 1. Your health and blood energy will increase by 5. User: Jareth Nightshade. Race: Vampiric. Level 4. Exp: 75 of 200. HP (Health Points): 25 of 25. Strength: 13. Stamina: 13. Agility: 12. Dexterity: 6. Blood Energy: 34 of 40. Solar Points: 100 of 100. Your stats being reduced while the sunlight touches your skin has been increased to 55%. Minus 1 Blood Energy every 1 hour and 30 minutes."

Jareth frowned as he saw the 55% for the sun reduction. He was excited that he got stronger until he saw that stupid weakness. Now I'm going to have to drink more as well.

"Dang it," Jareth muttered.

"Are you going to explain or something?" Damion interrupted the now Vampiric's thoughts.

"Yeah, Jareth," Apollo snickered. "How are you going to explain yourself out of this one?"

Jareth stared at the two boys as he started to think up a response on what to tell them.

"I…I…I can't quite explain it," Jareth stuttered. "It's my condition."

"Bullsh*t," Damion snapped. "I don't want to be in the middle of a fight between us and a Becifer when your condition triggers. You die or I die. It must be a sensitive topic, but I don't want to have to worry about it. Personally, for me, you have until our first outing, which I believe is next week, to tell me. We have to trust one another, and right now I can't trust your condition. I'm going to go to sleep now, and I think that you should sleep on it."

Damion walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind him. Henry looked at Jareth, but Henry looked away as he began to change. Jareth sighed as he went to check on the backpack. He opened it up and removed the topmost shirt to see the egg of the ant queen. He sighed as it hadn't hatched yet.

"I definitely would carry the backpack everywhere from now on," Apollo stated. "We must make sure that you can tame the Becifer. You don't want anyone to tame a creature that has the capability to create an army."

Jareth started to imagine himself with an ant army at his command. He could only imagine what people would think of him.

"Don't get too ahead of yourself, young one," Apollo said. "There are many things that can go wrong."

Jareth nodded as he started to get ready for bed, then he fell asleep.

Monday had arrived, and Jareth was sleeping soundly when Damion's alarm went off. Due to Jareth's now more enhanced hearing, his eyes slowly opened before Damion sat up on his bed.

"Good morning!" Apollo shouted in his head, again waking Jareth up.

"Seriously?" Jareth grumbled as he sat up.

"Did you know that as soon as you go to sleep," Apollo continued like he didn't care about Jareth's sleepiness, "as soon as you fall asleep, you wake up again for me. Like you were about to fall asleep a minute ago, then next thing I know I can hear Damion's alarm from his phone."

"Phone?" Jareth grumbled as he started to walk to the bathroom, but Damion beat him as he snickered before closing the door.

"Yeah, did you forget that phones exist? Maybe you can go into NYXIS and, on July first, take some money out for one."

Maybe, Jareth thought to Apollo as he heard a single snore from Henry's bed.

Jareth woke up Henry, telling him he should be wide awake for his first day of military classes. After some struggle of Henry wanting to get more sleep, eventually Henry rolled out of his bed.

The three got ready by putting on their green camouflage uniforms. Jareth placed his chest ribbon on his left chest. It only had one on it, which Jareth guessed was just the award for going to the academy. Henry and Damion had one, but they also had one more, which Damion told him was to represent his Evolved power.

The three of them, along with the rest of their group of six, had the same homeroom class. Mia's group did not, so their two groups wouldn't be meeting up. Before they left the room, Jareth made sure that the egg was safe within his backpack as he brought it with him as they headed out. The three of them went to go eat breakfast, where they met up with Madison, Hannah, and Emma. Hannah was still wearing her mask, so none of them still didn't know what she looked like.

"Just take your mask off already," Damion demanded.

"You wish," Hannah said. "Also, you wouldn't want me to do that."

"Sure, I do." Damion reached for her mask when Hannah tried to grab his hand.

Once their fingers touched, Damion pulled away.

"Ha," the Nephilim laughed. "I just wanted your power." He walked over to Emma and held out his hand. "Would you please?"

Emma briefly looked at his hand before she raised a single finger. Damion touched her finger and pulled away.

"Thanks," he said as the group continued to eat.

Jareth pretended to eat, but he was secretly just handing it over to Madison, who just ate it. She purposefully got an almost empty plate and told Jareth the plan. The plan seemed to go smoothly, as nobody seemed to look at them suspiciously.

When they were done, they had to go to the actual classroom building, which was at a separate part of the base. They had to walk to the first-year section of buildings. When they got to the entrance of the building, Jareth unconsciously stopped just before he entered the sun.

Madison stopped alongside Jareth while the others stepped into the sunlight. He took a deep breath as he stepped into the sun.

"You are in direct sunlight," the system spoke. "All stats reduced by 55%. Health Points: 13 of 25. Strength: 7 of 13. Stamina: 7 of 13. Agility: 6 of 12. Dexterity: 3 of 6."

"This is criminal," Jareth complained as he slouched over as beads of sweat started to form.

Madison grabbed his right arm and wrapped it around the back of her neck as she supported the Vampiric. Even though the reduction of stats had increased, his stats had also increased during his transformation, so he was practically in the same state. The group noticed Jareth, so they slowed down so the two could keep up. Only Damion had memorized the building and room number, so they just followed his direction as they eventually entered a building. When the Vampiric entered the building, he immediately felt like himself again as he stood up straight, and the beads of sweat stopped appearing.

The system announced, "you are no longer in direct sunlight, all stats are returned to normal."

Madison took a sniff, and Jareth eyed her with curiosity.

"You don't seem to stink," she noted. "Even though you sweat, you don't seem to have a smell."

Jareth took a sniff, and he couldn't smell anything foul.

"I'll just add it to the perks," he said as the group sped up since Jareth was back to himself again.

Damion eyed Jareth as he decided to make them take the stairs to the fourth floor. They walked down the hallway until Damion eventually turned into a classroom. When they entered, Jareth's jaw dropped because if this was considered a regular classroom, then his old school would be considered tiny. It was an auditorium-style room with ten rows and two aisles down the middle, along with one at each side. The class was mostly full, with some play fighting, showing off their Evolved powers, or showing their Becifer gear. Everyone was wearing the same style military uniforms as they were socializing with one another.

"I was hoping for a small classroom," Hannah said.

"This is small," Damion said. "You should see what class sizes Military Bases 1 through 5 have."

"I meant like the class size that we had before we came here," she explained herself.

"I know," he responded.

"You're stressful," she said as she walked in front of him to the back of the class.

"I guess we're at the back then," Emma announced, and the group went to take their seats at the back.

They chatted for a moment before someone walked in with a normal green military uniform. Only a couple of people noticed, as the rest kept on chatting away. The person did their thing until he slammed his hand on the table.

"It is now 8 a.m.," the person, whom Jareth assumed was the teacher, shouted, and the class went silent as they found their seats. "Welcome to your homeroom class! My name is Carl. You may call me Carl, but I suggest you call me Teacher Carl so you won't wonder why the person you are talking to doesn't know me. Since this is the first day of class, I have a lot of things to explain so you aren't confused."

Carl turned on a projector and a slideshow was displayed. It said "Welcome to Your First Day of Class in the Military Academy."

"I will first explain the reason why you should do well, even though you and I already know that you won't."
