Episode 14: Heal me, please
I woke up again. This time, in a soft cushion.
It smelled like alcohol and cold air.
The door opened with a click. The man in suit earlier appeared.
"How're you feeling?"
His voice was as soft as the pillow.
"I'm…fine, thank you."
"...? Do you not remember me at all?"
"Um. I'm pretty sure I met you yesterday."
The man in a suit flinched. It looked like he didn't expect me to not remember him at all.
It wasn't my fault my mind was hazy, I couldn't help it.
"Then let me introduce myself once again. I am Executive Chief David Halter. Adrian Ace Miller, you will be under supervision under the authority of Madam Vivienne Ashcroft, the co-CEO of the Nox Corporation."
"Hold—wait, when did I consent to working here?"
The man—David—clenched his fist, annoyance flashing across his face. He lowered his head and asked once again.
"Do you…really not remember?"
His voice sounded so hurt. I want to remember what happened between us or what our relationship was like.
"David, was it?"
He lifted his head and looked at me with expectant eyes.
"I'm sorry, but if you would like to remind me of our times, that would be very helpful."
I thought that would make him sad so I made my words as apologetic as possible. Seems to me that was not necessary, he smiled brightly and patted my head.
"Thanks… little brother."
My heart pounded with familiarity and desire. A small smile tugged at my lips, my chest tightened with sadness.
'This warmth, I want to feel it again and again. If only I…were really your brother.'
