Chapter 29 - Not interested

Serissa looked at Ryan, who was waiting for her answer.

"There is a twin prince and princess your age. If you don't want to become one of their followers, it's best to stay away from them."

"I also think that General Darius has a daughter about your age. If she has a personality like her father, it's best to avoid her."

Ryan repeated the name without realizing it:

"Darius."

Serissa noticed his expression.

"It seems you don't know him. He's the general who protects the capital; all the soldiers are under his command."

At that moment the carriage stopped and a knock was heard on the carriage door.

Froskar's voice was heard:

"My lady, it will soon be dark, so I have decided we should camp here."

Serissa agreed without even thinking it through.

"Fine, and pitch a tent for my guest and give him some food."

Then Serissa turned her attention back to Ryan.

"Go with him. He'll look after you until we reach the capital. If you need anything, just talk to him."

Ryan bowed his head in gratitude and said,

"Thank you, miss. I'll return the favor someday."

Of course, this was just talk from him; he simply didn't want to offend her again.

Serissa scratched the back of her head.

"You don't need to. I don't even think I'll ever need your help."

Then she shook her hand, demanding that he leave.

'What a conceited girl!'

Ryan opened the carriage door and got out to find Froskar waiting for him with a furious look on her face.

"Follow me"

Then Froskar began walking to where soldiers were setting up tents and others were preparing food.

All the soldiers were huge in stature, a testament to their rigorous training, and their equipment, from swords to shields, was all of high quality.

Ryan passed the soldiers on his way and noticed their looks filled with hatred and anger, as if someone had stolen something from them.

'I must not be alone with that girl again'

Ryan and Froskar arrived at a tent pitched on the outskirts of the camp.

"This is your tent."

Then Froskar turned to leave, but before he went, he spoke:

"And also, our lady is engaged, so don't think about it."

Ryan was taken aback by his words.

"What?"

Froskar turned to him angrily.

"I said my lady is already engaged. If people hear that you were left alone in the carriage, the rumors will start."

Ryan's head was spinning at the absurdity of the situation.

"And how could riding with her in a carriage be so strange?"

Froscar spoke proudly:

"For my lady allowed no man to ride with her in her carriage except the Lord and the young lord."

Ryan sighed.

"Don't worry, I'm not interested."

Froskar nodded contentedly.

"Good."

But then, after a moment, his attitude changed.

"Wait, what do you mean you're not interested? Are you saying my lady isn't good for you?"

Ryan held his head.

'My head hurts.'

Ryan smiled.

"Of course not, Mr. Froskar. How could a commoner like me dream of being married to a woman like Mrs. Ceres?"

Froskar nodded contentedly.

"It seems you know your place very well."

Ryan paid no attention to Froskar's words; it was easy for him to say a few words about himself to survive, because dignity meant nothing to him now.

"Then sir, I'll go to my tent now and get some sleep."

"Okay, I'll send you some food, because you're a smart kid."

But what they didn't notice was that a few steps away, behind a tree, a girl was listening to them, and she disappeared after Ryan went into his tent.

Serissa was sitting on her bed inside her tent when she said,

"Show yourself, Kelly."

Then a girl dressed entirely in black appeared before her.

"Hahaha, I can't beat you, Siri."

"If you want to hide yourself, you must try to hide your circus sound. I know you obtained the Shadow Element a short time ago, but your progress is weak."

Kelly sat across from her friend.

"Okay, okay, but it seems Celine's brother isn't a fan of yours. This is the first time I've seen a guy who doesn't like you."

A look of confusion crossed Serissa's face.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I heard his conversation with Froskar and he said he's not interested in you."

A smile appeared on Siri's face.

"Really? Did he say that?"

Then Kelly's expression became serious.

"So what did you do with Ron?"
