Chapter 28 - conversation

Ryan looked at the girl who was gazing at nature through the window of her carriage.

A few strands of her hair fluttered as a breeze came in through the window.

'She's really beautiful.'

After a few minutes of silence, Ryan asked the girl in front of him

"So... shall we go to the village since it will be dark soon?"

Serissa didn't look at him, but kept looking and touching her nails. She replied indifferently,

"No."

Then she looked at him and continued,

"We don't need to go to the village of Senkhim outside during our entire journey to the academy, and we also have enough provisions."

Then Cerisa asked,

"How is Sister Celine?"

Ryan replied,

"I don't know, I haven't seen her in almost a year."

Then a hint of disappointment crossed her face at his answer.

"So that's how it is."

But then her cold expression returned.

"Since the sister requested it, she will be under my protection until we reach the academy."

Then she looked Ryan up and down.

"I heard you were sleeping for a long time. Are you okay now?"

Ryan was taken aback by the question. He hadn't expected anyone to know he'd been in a coma, so he wanted to know more.

'It's best to play dumb in moments like these.'

"What do you mean?"

A smile appeared on her face.

"Do you think no one knows what happened to you?"

"Perhaps everyone knows, even the students at the academy. Of course, they don't know your name, but they know that there were people who attacked the family of the youngest unit leader in the kingdom and the family of the academy's teacher."

"Even my sister Celine left the academy months before graduation."

"And of course, with my connections, it was easy to find out what happened to you."

"But it seems you are in good health now. According to the information I received, they left you in a pitiful state, completely burned."

Serissa looked at Ryan to see his reaction to her words.

Ryan looked into her eyes; he was calm as usual.

"Miss, it seems you misunderstood me. I didn't think anyone would care about what happened to me."

"I didn't know my sisters were famous."

Serissa wasn't surprised.

"Well, of course you wouldn't know if you were locked in your house all day."

"How did that teach me?"

Not many people knew that Ryan had been staying home most of the time before going to sleep for three years, except for his mother, father, and Ari.

"Well, Sister Celine has been talking about you a lot, so you could say I know a lot about you, Ryan."

"But you haven't answered my question yet."

'Her question, uh'

"I think my health is good."

Serissa shook her head.

"Good. If not, I think you'd be better off going home."

"I think you've heard that, but the academy isn't a place for the weak, and since you haven't been banned since eighth grade, I think the social hierarchy in your school year has already been established."

Ryan scratched the back of his head.

"Sorry, but..."

Serissa looked at him.

"How old are you?"

"Why?"

"Well, if there are layers as you said, then I prefer to stay out of sight, so I want to know about the people I should avoid."

Serissa thought for a moment.

"Well, staying out of sight might be a good idea."

Then she sighed.

"But unfortunately, I'm two years older than you and I don't pay attention to people, so I don't know anyone your age."

Ryan looked somewhat disappointed.

'I hope no one comes near me.'

He preferred to remain alone and finish his years of study quietly; that was what he hoped for.

Noticing his expression, Serissa continued,

"But there are two people your age I think it's best to stay away from."

Ryan looked at her, waiting for her to speak.
