Faye Lowell looked toward Yvonne Carter. After a momentary pause, Yvonne immediately nodded in cooperation.
Faye then had someone bring up a pre-prepared tray of peanuts, red dates, longans, and lotus seeds. "Sis, why don't you have one of each?"
Rosalind stared at the peanuts on the plate, her fists clenching. She was allergic to peanuts. Faye was doing this on purpose.
Alaric also sensed her reluctance. His dark eyes glanced at the items on the plate. "We don't have this tradition."
"Brother-in-law, it won't take much time. It's for a good omen."
By now, all the guests were watching them.
"If you don't want to eat them, then don't," Alaric said, looking at Rosalind, who was starting to hesitate.
Rosalind looked up, her gaze falling upon Alaric's handsome face. His words alone were enough to satisfy her.
She happened to glance over at Herman Lowell, who was seated at one of the tables. His eyes were like daggers. 'If I don't play along, I'm in for it.'
