Alexander's POV
By the time we arrived in Velaridge City, night had already fallen.
A convoy was waiting by the private airstrip.
Alicia carried Aimy in her arms.
I had tried several times during the flight to carry the little girl for her, but she refused every time, holding Aimy as though someone might take her away.
I couldn't understand it.
Back in Rosewood Town, she had trusted me enough to let me carry Aimy.
The moment we landed in Velaridge, however, that trust seemed to disappear.
Not wanting her to misunderstand my intentions, I stopped insisting and simply guided them toward the waiting car.
I opened the rear door for her.
She slid inside without a word.
I took the seat beside her.
The drive was unusually quiet.
Even Jim remained silent.
When he first saw Alicia at the airport, the shock on his face had been impossible to miss. Alicia, however, had been so focused on Aimy that she hadn't noticed him at all.
