Chapter 51 - Samantha Borgens II

SF Chapter 51: Samantha Borgens II

After talking for a while longer, Alexandra decided to leave.

"You can go back to that girl again," Lexi remarked.

"Good night, Lexi. Thanks for the company," Daniel hugged her and ignored her comment.

"Night, Dani. See you at the premiere." She walked away.

He stood there for a moment. "What to do? Find a girl, go home, or…" he muttered. In the end, he approached Samantha, who was talking to another guy.

"Procreation. You pass your genes to the next one down the line. That's really all we've got," Samantha said, continuing, "Society, government, money, religion, careers, nuclear families, monogamy..."

"These are all just highly creative, socially accepted delusions that we impose on reality to try and gain some semblance of control over our lives."

"It gives us the illusion of choice. It makes us feel a little less like animals," she finished.

"Animals? What do you mean? Like evolution?" the guy asked, looking at her strangely.

"Yeah. Evolution, exactly."

"I do not believe in evolution," he replied, making Daniel wince.

Samantha kept philosophizing. "There are 400 billion stars in the Milky Way alone, which makes the number of stars in the entire universe completely mind-boggling."

"We are nothing. If an asteroid hadn't hit Earth 65 million years ago and wiped out the dinosaurs, we wouldn't be here."

The guy couldn't handle the conversation anymore and stood up. "Yeah. I'm going to go."

"Good. All you creationists do is blow your chances at getting laid," she mocked a little too loudly.

"Wow. That didn't work out? Maybe he was a Mormon... a moron I know he was." Daniel said as he approached, laughing and sitting in the seat the guy had just vacated.

"What do you want, Dani?"

But he kept mocking her. "I think your 'So I think we should fuck' line works way better." He laughed again.

"Yeah? Because your chances of getting laid are also decreasing," she retorted. "And I don't see the girl you were with earlier."

"Lexi? She decided to leave. And I doubt your claim. The question now is, my house or yours?" he stated confidently.

She just stared at him.

Daniel stood up. "Come on. After we get laid, we can talk about your five-dollar philosophy pocketbook."

But she remained with her arms crossed. "Why would you think I would sleep with you again? Just because we did it once?"

He looked at her. "Partially, yes. You know I'm good at it. Second, we're both good-looking, and we both know we could find someone else here."

"You're on the realistic side. Let's face it - chances are we'd end up with someone way worse."

"You can go find another guy with an infinitely lower IQ than you, who will be startled by your nihilism or existentialism somewhere between Sartre and Camus - but who will still say yes because you're very cute and have a nice body."

Daniel finished. "Sam, we have so many things in common, but at the same time, we have many different opinions. However, there is one thing in particular that is exactly the same - we both don't want any commitment."

"My house. I'll be on top." She remarked, pulling him out of the bar.

"You need to improve your negotiation skills, Miss Borgens. While you're thinking about you are in control, I'm thinking about how they'd look good bouncing," Daniel teased, wrapping his arm around her waist.

Sam and Dani arrived at her bedroom.

"Wow, we're almost neighbors," Daniel commented. "Please don't turn into a loony stalker."

"What?" Samantha looked at him strangely.

"Inside joke. My brother had a one-night stand with a girl. Now she stalks him."

She spoke while putting on some music. "Don't worry, I'm not a stalker. Besides, I'm here on vacation. Normally, I live on campus."

He nodded and glanced around her room.

"Huh. William Borgens, as expected…" he muttered as he looked at the books. Then he spoke louder. "Nora Bing? Really?" He laughed.

"She writes well. I use her as inspiration."

"I met her personally," Dani revealed.

Sam raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Yeah. She did my brother." He said it in a way that made her laugh.

He picked up a specific book and showed it to her. "Samantha Borgens? Under the Pink?"

"That's my book. It's going to be published," she spoke, taking the book from his hand and placing it back on the desk. "Now, do you want to talk about books or have sex?"

"Talking about books," he blurted. "Oh wait, I got nervous. Sex. Totally sex."

She rolled her eyes, but stepped closer, and the two of them kissed.

After a few intense moments, Daniel and Samantha were lying naked on her bed.

"Sam, if you want to be on top all the time, you need more stamina," he mocked, wrapping an arm around her and resting one hand on her stomach.

"Shut up, Dani."

Then a knock was heard. "Sis, are you in there?" A head popped in, but quickly disappeared again. "Wow, sorry."

"Rusty, you can come in. We're under the blanket, we're decent," she shouted.

"Yeah, no," he yelled back. "I'll be up on the roof if you want to talk…"

"My little brother…" she murmured.

"Want to talk to him?" Dani asked, lifting the blanket slightly. "I still need a little more time before the next round."

She looked at him, slightly surprised. "You want to go again? What are you, some kind of hamster? Or are you in heat?"

"Of course I want to go again, my little mathētḗs. I'm a healthy young horny man!" he remarked, striking a pose.

She just threw a pillow at him.

-------‐-----------‐-----------‐-----------‐-----------‐-----------‐---

Sam and her brother were sitting on the roof.

"Sorry about earlier. I was being a dick," he apologized for the scene he had made that morning when she announced her book was going to be published.

"It's okay," she dismissed.

"Yeah, you were right. I was just jealous," Rusty confessed. "I really am happy for you. It's awesome."

"You're going to have a book published one day too, you know."

"Sure. I know."

"Ohhh, you two are so adorable," Daniel said in a baby voice.

Setting the cups down on the ground and sitting beside her, he tossed a handful of money onto her lap.

Sam picked it up and gestured with the stack in her hand, silently asking for an explanation.

"You told me I could grab a drink from the table. I took this whiskey. I know how much it costs. I don't want to be a dick to your dad."

"Wow, that cost 600 dollars?" Her brother took the money from her hand.

"Yeah, Highland Park 30 Year Old," he nodded. "Your old man has good taste." He poured it into the glasses.

Rusty ended up coughing after taking a sip.

"Ohh, you're such a junior, Rusty," she teased her brother.

"Shut up, Samantha."
