Chapter 50 - CHAPTER 56: I FORGIVE YOU

JAY-JAY POV

The air between us had been heavy for days.

London.

That sentence.

"I used you."

It kept echoing in my head like it refused to leave.

But tonight… something finally shifted.

Keifer stood in front of me on the balcony, quieter than usual, like he was waiting for something he didn't think he deserved.

I looked at him for a long moment.

Then finally—

"…I forgive you."

Silence.

Instant silence.

Even the wind felt like it paused.

Keifer didn't react at first.

Just stared at me like he didn't hear it properly.

"…What?"

I rolled my eyes.

"Don't make me repeat it."

A second passed.

Then another.

And suddenly—

something in his face changed.

The tension disappeared.

Not fully.

But enough.

His shoulders relaxed slightly, like he had been holding his breath for weeks and just finally let it go.

"…You're serious?" he asked.

I crossed my arms.

"No, I just love dramatic suffering."

That made him blink once.

Then—

a small smile appeared.

Real this time.

Not teasing.

Not fake.

Just… relieved.

"…You're dangerous," he said quietly.

I tilted my head.

"Excuse me?"

Keifer stepped a little closer now.

Careful.

Like he still didn't trust the moment.

"First you get angry," he said, voice softer, "then you don't leave… and now you forgive me."

I frowned slightly.

"That's called basic emotional development."

He gave a short laugh.

First time I heard that in days.

It felt weird.

Good weird.

He shook his head slightly.

"You're unpredictable."

"I know."

A pause.

Then I added casually—

"Should I not have forgiven you?"

That made his smile widen just a little.

"No."

Quick answer.

Too quick.

I raised an eyebrow.

"…That was fast."

Keifer leaned back against the railing again, but now he looked lighter.

Less tense.

More like himself.

"I prefer you like this," he said.

"Like what?"

"Not hating me."

That made me look away quickly.

"…I didn't hate you."

"Mm."

He clearly didn't believe that.

I glared at him slightly.

"What?"

He shrugged.

"You looked like you were planning my funeral for two days."

I scoffed.

"You deserved it."

"Probably."

That calm answer annoyed me less than it should've.

Then he added, quieter—

"But I like this better."

I looked at him again.

He was actually smiling now.

Properly.

Like he wasn't carrying something heavy anymore.

And that somehow made my chest feel lighter too.

I huffed.

"Don't get used to it."

He stepped a little closer.

"Too late."

I blinked.

"…What does that mean?"

Keifer tilted his head slightly.

And now there was that familiar look again.

The one that used to annoy me.

But now…

just made my heart beat a little faster.

"You forgave me," he said simply.

"So?"

"So now I don't have to survive your anger."

I rolled my eyes.

"Wow. So dramatic."

He leaned slightly closer just enough to make me notice.

"…I prefer this version of you."

I froze for half a second.

Then frowned.

"What version?"

The corner of his mouth lifted.

"The one that doesn't completely hate me."

I scoffed.

"I never completely hated you."

A pause.

Then he said quietly—

"Good."

And for some reason…

that one word felt a little too personal.

I looked away quickly.

"…Don't start acting normal now."

Keifer let out a soft laugh again.

"I'm not normal."

"That's true."

Then I added under my breath—

"And still annoying."

He leaned back, fully relaxed now.

"Noted."

A comfortable silence fell between us again.

But this time—

it didn't feel heavy.

It felt… warm.

And for once…

Keifer wasn't the problem anymore.

He was just there.

Smiling.

Still annoying.

But forgiven.
