Chapter 7 - WHEN TRUTH FINDS YOU

The atmosphere in school changed after Brielle's presentation.

Whispers followed Amara wherever she went.

Some students stared openly.

Others avoided her entirely.

A few tried to approach her… but stopped halfway.

Amara noticed everything.

But she didn't react.

She never did.

In the classroom, she sat quietly by the window as usual.

Kian entered and paused when he saw her.

For a moment… he simply watched.

She looked the same.

But something had shifted around her.

He walked to his seat and sat down.

"You handled it well," he said.

Amara didn't look at him.

"There was nothing to handle."

Kian tilted his head slightly.

"People are talking."

"Let them."

A short silence followed.

Then Kian spoke again, more carefully this time:

"What Brielle showed… is it true?"

Amara finally looked at him.

Her eyes were calm… but deeper than before.

"Yes."

Kian didn't react immediately.

He just nodded slowly.

"But that's not the full story," Amara added.

That caught his attention.

Before he could ask anything more, the classroom door opened again.

This time… it wasn't Brielle.

It was a teacher.

"Amara, you're needed in the principal's office."

The room went quiet again.

Amara stood up without hesitation.

She didn't ask why.

She already knew.

As she walked out, Kian stood up as well.

"I'll come with you."

Amara stopped.

"No."

Kian didn't move.

"This doesn't concern you," she said softly.

Kian replied:

"It does now."

A brief silence.

Amara studied him for a moment.

Then, unexpectedly… she said:

"…Fine."

At the Principal's Office

The principal sat behind a large desk, expression serious.

Beside him was Brielle's father.

Amara's expression didn't change when she saw him.

But the tension in the room became heavier.

The principal spoke:

"Amara… there are concerns about your identity being revealed publicly."

Brielle's father added:

"And about the confusion it has caused among students."

Amara remained silent.

Kian stood slightly behind her, observing everything.

The principal continued:

"We need clarity. Why did you transfer here without disclosing your background?"

Amara took a small breath.

Then she answered:

"Because I wanted to live like everyone else."

Brielle's father leaned back slightly.

"That's not how people like you are supposed to live."

Kian's eyes narrowed slightly at that statement.

Amara looked directly at him.

"People like me…?"

A pause.

"Are still people," she said calmly.

Silence filled the room.

The principal adjusted his glasses.

"Regardless, the situation has caused disturbance. We may need to reconsider your enrollment if this continues."

That statement changed the tone instantly.

Kian stepped forward.

"That's not fair."

All eyes turned to him.

He continued:

"She didn't break any rules. If anything, the issue came from exposing her without consent."

Brielle's father frowned slightly.

"And who are you to speak on this?"

Kian met his gaze.

"Someone who understands what's right."

A tense silence followed.

Amara looked at Kian.

For the first time…

She didn't push him away.

The principal raised a hand.

"Enough."

He turned back to Amara.

"For now, we will monitor the situation."

Amara nodded slightly.

As they left the office…

The hallway felt quieter.

Heavier.

Kian walked beside her.

"You didn't deny anything," he said.

Amara replied:

"Because there's no need to lie anymore."

Kian looked at her.

"So what happens now?"

Amara stopped walking.

She turned to him.

"Now…" she said softly.

"…they stop seeing me as invisible."

A pause.

"And start seeing what I really am."

Kian held her gaze.

"And what is that?"

Amara didn't answer immediately.

Then she said:

"Someone who doesn't run away anymore."

That moment changed something.

Not just in her…

But in Kian as well.

Because now…

He wasn't just curious.

He was standing beside someone whose life was becoming more complicated than he expected.

And Brielle?

She was still watching.

Planning.

Waiting.

Because the game had just begun.
