Chapter 177 - Tension Under One Roof

Part 2: Tension Under One Roof

The mansion had never felt like this before.

Not loud.

Not chaotic.

But… tense.

Like something invisible had settled in.

Waiting.

Watching.

Morning

Sunlight poured into the dining area.

Everything looked normal.

Perfect.

But it wasn't.

Elara sat at the table.

Quiet.

Too quiet.

Seraphina happily ate her breakfast.

Swinging her legs.

Unaware of everything.

Ethan scrolled through his phone lazily.

Occasionally glancing at Elara.

"Why does it feel like someone died?"

He muttered.

Elara didn't respond.

That was his answer.

Footsteps echoed.

Everyone looked up.

Amelia.

She stood at the entrance.

Hesitant.

Unsure.

Wearing simple clothes Lucas had arranged.

Still looking out of place.

Seraphina's face lit up instantly.

"Amelia!"

She jumped down from her seat and ran to her.

Amelia froze slightly—

Then softened.

"Good morning…"

She said quietly.

Seraphina grabbed her hand.

"Come sit with us!"

Elara watched everything.

Her expression controlled.

But her eyes—

Still sharp.

Amelia walked slowly to the table.

"Sit."

Elara said calmly.

Amelia nodded.

Taking a seat.

The silence returned.

Ethan leaned back.

Studying her.

"So…"

"Daughter of a Mafia boss."

Elara shot him a look instantly.

"Ethan."

"What?"

He shrugged.

"I'm just stating facts."

Amelia lowered her gaze slightly.

"I'm not like him."

She said softly.

Ethan tilted his head.

"Everyone says that."

Before things could escalate—

Another presence entered.

Damian.

The room shifted immediately.

His gaze moved across everyone.

Then rested briefly on Amelia.

"Eat."

He said simply.

And just like that—

The tension lowered slightly.

He took his seat beside Elara.

She didn't look at him.

But he noticed.

Of course he did.

"You didn't sleep."

He said quietly.

Elara finally glanced at him.

"I did."

"You didn't."

He repeated.

A pause.

"…I was thinking."

She admitted.

"About her?"

Elara didn't answer.

That was enough.

Damian leaned slightly closer.

"She's under my protection."

"And I trust you."

Elara's expression softened… just a little.

But not completely.

"Just don't give me a reason not to trust her."

She said quietly.

Damian nodded once.

Across the table—

Ethan smirked slightly.

"This house is officially full of drama."

Seraphina giggled.

"I like it!"

Elara sighed.

Damian almost smiled.

Later That Day

Amelia stood by the window in her new room.

Looking outside.

This place was different.

Safe.

Warm.

Something she hadn't felt in a long time.

A knock came at the door.

She turned.

Elara stood there.

For a moment—

Neither of them spoke.

Then Elara stepped in.

Closing the door behind her.

"I need to make something clear."

Her voice was calm.

But firm.

Amelia straightened immediately.

"You can stay here."

A pause.

"But this is my family."

Her eyes locked onto Amelia's.

"And I protect what's mine."

Silence.

Amelia nodded slowly.

"I understand."

"I'm not here to take anything."

Elara studied her for a moment longer.

Then turned to leave.

But paused at the door.

"…And don't touch my husband again."

She added calmly.

Then walked out.

Amelia stood there.

Still.

Then let out a small breath.

"…Noted."

Elsewhere — Damian's Study

Damian stood by the window.

Silent.

Thinking.

Lucas stood behind him.

"She's going to cause tension."

"I know."

Damian replied.

"Then why bring her here?"

A pause.

Damian looked down at the cross pendant.

"Because I gave my word."

And in his world—

That meant everything.

Even if it cost him peace.

To be continued…
