Chapter 114 - The First Clue

Theo's POV

The sun had barely risen when we left the city.

The roads were mostly empty, and a soft golden light stretched across the horizon. Normally, I loved early morning drives. There was something peaceful about watching the world slowly wake up.

Today felt different.

Today, every minute mattered.

I sat in the passenger seat while Jax drove

I could tell he was worried.

He hadn't slept much.

Honestly, neither of us had.

The moment we arrived home from the hospital, we had packed our bags and prepared for the trip.

Now we were racing toward Jax's family estate.

Toward William.

Toward a problem that seemed to grow worse every day.

The radio played softly, but neither of us paid much attention to it.

Our thoughts were elsewhere.

After almost two hours of driving, Jax finally spoke.

"I should have come sooner."

I looked at him.

"What?"

He kept his eyes on the road.

"Mom called me three times this week."

His voice sounded guilty.
