Later that afternoon, Sharon returned to the library to continue the project.
Dylan arrived a few minutes later carrying two drinks.
He placed one on the table in front of her.
Sharon looked at it. "What's this?"
"Juice," he said. "Don't worry, it's not poisoned."
She hesitated before taking a sip.
"Thanks," she said quietly.
Dylan sat down across from her.
"So," he said, opening his laptop, "did you finish your research?"
"Most of it."
They began discussing their ideas, writing notes and organizing their presentation.
After a while, Dylan suddenly said, "You know, you're actually kind of easy to work with."
Sharon looked up in surprise.
"Don't get used to it," she said.
He smiled.
A real smile this time, not the teasing one he usually gave her.
For a moment, the tension between them disappeared.
They talked about the project… then about their favorite subjects… then about their teachers.
Somehow, they even started laughing.
Sharon leaned back in her chair.
"This is weird," she said.
"What is?" Dylan asked.
"We're having a normal conversation."
Dylan chuckled. "Yeah… it's strange."
They looked at each other for a second before quickly looking away.
Sharon felt something unfamiliar flutter in her chest.
And she didn't like it.
Because it meant one thing.
Maybe Dylan wasn't her enemy anymore.
