Chapter 2 - Unnamed

Chapter 2 You Acted as Me for Two Years

Aaron opened the System Mall with excitement.

The mall's interface was quite simple, with three rows, each containing five product slots, divided into magic, materials, and items.

The product levels were random, high and low; each magicPoint could refresh one slot, one row, or all, depending on luck.

When he first opened the mall, one of the five magic items was a spell that could bring the dead back to life.

At that time, Aaron thought it was a huge stroke of luck, that the goddess of fortune favored him, God had given him special attention, and the Gaius Family's ancestral graves were smoking with good fortune.

But after seeing the specific description, he realized he had been overthinking it.

There were three conditions for casting the spell: first, the magic power had to reach the level of a Grand Magister, which meant over 10,000 magic points.

Second, each use of magic power would decrease it by 20%, requiring re-cultivation.

Third, the revived person's death could not have exceeded twenty years, and a certain amount of the deceased's body tissue was required.

Except for the third condition, which he could accept, the other two were increasingly stringent.

According to the system's classification of Magician levels, they were: Magician Apprentice (1-100 magic power), Junior Magician (100-500 magic power), Intermediate Wizard (500-1000 magic power), Advanced Magician (1000-3000 magicpower), Magician (3000-5000 magic power), Archmage(5000-10000 magic power), Grand Magister (10000-30000 magic power), Saint Magister (30000-50000 magic power), and the legendary God of Magic.

Grand Magister! Or rather, a peak Archmage, certainly existed in this Magical World, but they were absolutely rare.

Even a Grand Magister would probably be unwilling to bear the cost of casting this spell.

With Aaron's current three-digit magic power, learning this spell would take at least ten to eight years, not to mention he currently had no one he wanted to revive, so learning it would be useless.

Most importantly, the price of this spell was extraordinarily expensive: thirty thousand magic Points.

For Aaron, it would probably take until the year of the monkey and horse (a very long time) to save up enough, which he absolutely could not accept.

So, the moment he saw this spell, Aaron decisively used the one magic Point obtained from his daily sign-in to refresh, which then gave him his first shopping goal.

Occlumency; Price: one thousand magic Points; (Learning it allows the host to perfectly resist external mental penetration; no one can probe the host's memories.)

"System, I want to buy this," Aaron said in his mind.

"One thousand magic Points deducted. Congratulations, host, you have learned Occlumency. You currently have one magic Point remaining."

The next moment, Aaron felt that all memories related to Occlumency had been added to his mind, etched deeply as if by a knife and axe.

At this moment, Aaron felt a surge of heroic spirit. He dared to say that even if Dumbledore himself used Legilimency on him, he would not be able to probe his memories, unless he wanted him to see them.

Just as he was about to close the system, the familiar voice sounded in his mind again.

"Congratulations, host, on your first purchase in the System Mall.

Upon spending one magic Point, you are rewarded with one bottle of the special Potion 'moon drop', which can remove any negative curses;

Upon spending ten magic Points, you are rewarded with one bottle of the special Potion 'Resurrection Potion', which can revive any creature that has died within one hour;

Upon spending one hundred magic Points, you are rewarded with the skill of wandless casting, allowing you to handle emergencies without a magic wand;

Upon spending one thousand magic Points, you are rewarded with a magical egg, which can hatch a magical creature 100% loyal to the host. It will become the host's most trusted companion in the future."

Aaron blinked blankly, then slapped his cheek. He seriously doubted if he had misheard.

He then retrieved a bottle of magenta Potion, a bottle of emerald green Potion, and a pet egg, thirty centimeters long and twenty centimeters wide, from the system space.

The eggshell was pure white, with cloud-like patterns, giving it a sacred and noble feel.

Uh... after a brief moment of stunned silence came endless indignation, "Damn it! You dog system, you've been playing me for two years.

Why didn't you tell me such important information earlier?"

"Firstly, the host did not ask.

Secondly, is there any difference between giving these rewards early or late?"

...Aaron looked at the two Potions in his hand and it seemed there was no difference. He didn't need to lift curses, nor did he need to revive anyone.

Although the two Potions were incredibly precious, they were truly useless to him at the moment.

Wait, wasn't there also an egg!

"System, if you had told me earlier, this egg might have already hatched by now.

I wouldn't be as lonely as I am now, without a single friend to confide in. You have to compensate me for this!" Aaronsaid, a bit displeased.

Although his home offered a life of luxury and freedom from worry, it was too desolate.

Aside from his parents and Gines, everyone who saw him had reverence in their eyes; this was due to the difference in status, and it was unavoidable.

It wasn't that no guests came to the house, but these so-called guests were too focused on elaborate etiquette, each acting as if they were immensely important.

Even if they brought children his age, they could only play for half a day at best.

But the next time they met would be months or even half a year later, so to this day, Aaron had no friends.

Before he was eight, his parents accompanied him, and he could feel their paternal and maternal love, but ever since they started living their own two-person world, they rarely returned.

Part of the reason Aaron opened a shop in Diagon Alley was that it had plenty of people, allowing him to experience what liveliness felt like. Every day, there were no status differences; he could talk equally with customers and learn some interesting anecdotes about the Magical World, which was quite enjoyable.

"Host, you are being unreasonable!" The system's disdainful voice echoed in Aaron's mind.

"How am I being unreasonable? Do you know how I've spent the last two years?"

"Then please tell this system, what level of spending was required to receive this magical creature's egg as a reward?"

"Isn't it just a thousand... huh?"

"Now you understand. Even if this system had told you earlier, this egg would not have fallen into your hands any sooner.

So the host hasn't really suffered any loss.

In this situation, isn't demanding compensation being unreasonable?"

Aaron:...Damn it! It really seems to make sense.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A knock on the door came through, "Young Master, Yobbyhas brought your dinner."

Aaron immediately put the two Potions and the pet egg back into the system space, and said calmly, "Come in! The door isn't locked."

The House-elf nervously walked in, behind him a tray floating in mid-air.

A portion of fruit, a steak, and a corn soup flew from the tray and landed on Aaron's table.

"Alright, you can go out first!"

"Yes, Young Master."

After Yobby left, Aaron eagerly took out the white egg, looking at it expectantly, while his exquisite dinner was selectively ignored.

"System, what race is this egg? How do I hatch it?"

"Does the host wish to spend one magic Point for identification?"

Aaron silently glanced at his last remaining magic Point, and couldn't help but complain in his mind, "You really aren't leaving me anything!

Identify."

[Race: Dragon]

[Hatching Method: Expose to sunlight for at least three hours daily, other times can be freely arranged. It will hatch in approximately seven days.]

"That's it, nothing else?

You could at least tell me which branch of dragons it belongs to, and what its magic level is!"

The system was silent for a moment, then replied, "This Dragon Egg has no branch in the current Magical World. Before hatching, it is at the Magician Apprentice level. After hatching, it will advance one level and will evolve as its magic level increases.

Its combat power will increase to varying degrees at each stage, and it can freely control its body size."

After hearing the description, Aaron became even more interested in the Dragon Egg in his hand.

This might be the only dragon in this world. Just by looking at the patterns on the eggshell, he knew its appearance would be good. Being able to change size also meant he could keep it by his side.

As for whether the Ministry of Magic would investigate it due to its various mysterious qualities, Aaron had no worries about that.

Did they really think the Gaius Family's millennia of heritage was just for show? Just find a random excuse to brush them off, and then demonstrate the pet's obedience. He believed the Magical World would give the Gaius Familythis much respect.

"Good, very good. This Young Master is very satisfied with this egg." Aaron nodded in satisfaction, holding the Dragon Egg with adoration.

"Should I give it a name in advance?" Aaron was a bit conflicted. He didn't know if this unborn dragon was male or female, nor what it looked like, what color it was, whether it was cute or mighty. Naming it rashly felt a bit hasty.

Thinking of this, Aaron shook his head abruptly. Isn't it just seven days? This young master can wait.

Just then, a beam of moonlight shone into Aaron's bedroom through the window. He looked at the white Dragon Egg in his hand. "System, can exposing it to moonlight for eight hours a day reduce the hatching time?"

"Please, host, do not ask such idiotic questions. The system feels its IQ is being lowered."

"Hmph, you weren't that smart to begin with." Aarongrumbled, then gently placed the Dragon Egg under the moonlight. "No sun for now, so make do with this. Absorb some moonlight essence to supplement yourself."

After speaking, Aaron began to enjoy his dinner.

He didn't notice that, under the bright moonlight, the white Dragon Egg subtly trembled.
