Chapter 3 - Unnamed

Chapter 3: Dragon Egg

The next day, the alarm clock rang promptly at six in the morning.

Aaron skillfully picked it up with his eyes closed and threw it directly at the wall.

Bang!

The world was quiet. I would continue to sleep. Nothing could disturb my determination to sleep.

But as soon as he closed his eyes, he remembered the pet egg he had obtained yesterday and sat up abruptly from the bed.

The next moment, he widened his eyes, and the daze in them instantly disappeared.

"Where's the Dragon Egg? Where did my pet egg go?" Aaronmurmured in surprise. He had clearly put it on his desk last night, so how could it suddenly be gone?

His first reaction was that the Dragon Egg had been stolen, but he quickly dismissed this possibility.

The defensive magic of Gaius Castle was not that easy to break through, even if the Dark Lord were to be resurrected. Moreover, he had only obtained this egg last night, and no one knew of its existence except for him.

Even if there really was a thief, he wouldn't stoop to stealing an eleven-year-old's bedroom!

Wouldn't it be better to directly steal from the Patriarch's room, or even the treasury?

In conclusion, there was only one truth: I was dreaming.

Aaron laughed self-deprecatingly and leaned back, but as he lay down, he found a round object by his hand.

"Oh my goodness!"

Aaron looked at the Dragon Egg on the bed, then at his desk.

He carefully recalled what had happened before he went to bed last night, and his gaze towards the egg became one of scrutiny.

Perhaps sensing his owner's questioning gaze, the Dragon Egg became a little more docile, but the patterns on its shell suddenly lit up.

"Oh! You're being naughty!

You can hear me, can't you?"

A few seconds later, the Dragon Egg swayed from side to side, and then back and forth.

"Holy cow! My Dragon Egg is growing up!" Aaron was a little excited. He had thought he would only get a pet after seven days, but it seemed the time could be slightly brought forward.

Others walk cats and dogs, and in the Magical World, it's more common to walk owls and toads.

So, there should be nothing wrong with walking a Dragon Egg before walking a dragon, right!

But before it truly hatched, he could only walk it at home; otherwise, it would attract too much attention.

"Come on, little guy, let's go out and get some sun. You absolutely deserve the first ray of sunshine in the morning."

The Dragon Egg also seemed very happy, directly jumping into Aaron's hand.

As the door opened, Aaron, holding the Dragon Egg, excitedly walked downstairs, a scene both adorable and comical.

Gines saw Aaron and was momentarily incredulous.

When did Young Master start getting up so early? He never used to get up before seven o'clock.

But noticing the unknown creature's egg in Aaron's hand, Gines couldn't help but frown slightly, "Young Master, may I borrow the egg in your hand to look at it?

I consider myself quite knowledgeable, but I can't tell what kind of egg this is.

Could you satisfy your subordinate's curiosity?"

"No," Aaron refused directly, holding the Dragon Egg in his hand even tighter.

"Gines, I know you're concerned about my safety, but this egg will absolutely not harm me.

It's my future pet and my most cherished companion."

"Young Master, even if you say so, but it..."

Aaron instantly put on a serious face, "Uncle Gines, you watched me grow up. I don't want to use my status to pressure you, understand?"

"Understood," Gines said with a wry smile. To put it bluntly, he was just a butler and not qualified to make decisions for the Young Master.

"But shouldn't this be mentioned to the Master and Madam?"

"Cough cough! I'm already eleven years old. I don't need to report everything to them, do I!" Aaron waved his hand. If they knew their son was raising an unknown creature's egg, they would probably abandon their grand travel plans and rush back without stopping.

After speaking, Aaron was still a little uneasy, "Butler Gines, this is an order."

"Yes, I understand," Gines said, no longer asking about the origin of the egg.

After all, with the Gaius couple away, Aaron was the highest authority in the Castle, and he could even open the treasury. As for what was inside the treasury, he, as the butler, only knew a part of it.

This egg might just be something the Young Master, in his playful nature, dug out from the depths of the treasury.

Aaron walked out of the Castle's living room door and strode briskly in the courtyard outside.

He was initially very happy, but after more than ten minutes, he felt his arms getting tired.

After all, he was only eleven years old this year, and the weight of this Dragon Egg was indeed a bit heavy for him.

So, two minutes later, he tied the Dragon Egg to a ribbon and used the Levitation Charm to float it in the air. From a distance, it looked like an oval white balloon.

"I truly am a little genius. Only I could think of such a good idea.

It gets plenty of sunlight, reduces weight, and cultivates our bond. How wonderful." Aaron laughed to himself, as for whether the little guy was willing, that was completely unimportant.

After flying the kite for a full hour, Aaron reluctantly brought it down and held it in his arms again.

Gines, standing nearby, glanced at the Dragon Egg in the Young Master's hand and then at the cheerful smile on his face. He felt a bit emotional; since the Master and Madam went to travel the world, the Young Master hadn't been this happy in a long time.

After a moment of hesitation, Gines spoke up to remind him, "Young Master, it's already seven o'clock. Do you want to go to Diagon Alley or..."

"I'm in a good mood today, so I'll eat at home.

As for work hours, delaying it by an hour is no big deal," Aaron said casually.

He wanted to take the Dragon Egg to Diagon Alley, but he quickly suppressed the thought.

Because this little guy was clearly not a creature that could stay still. If people found out that the owner of Aaron's drink shop was parading around with a Dragon Egg, that would be a huge spectacle.

At that time, Ministry of Magic officials might even come knocking, and although he wasn't worried about that, there was no need to look for trouble.

But what if someone secretly harbored intentions for the little guy?

This was an egg of an unknown creature, its shell patterns imbued with an indescribable mystery, and coupled with the vigorous vitality it displayed even before hatching, this was very rare in the world of magical creatures.

All these combined would make its value reach a figure surpassing that of a Dragon Egg, enough to make some desperate outlaws take risks. Although he didn't need to worry with his hidden defensive forces, being under'surveillance' protection, which he had protested for so long, was still quite awkward.

"Hmm... I'm going to work soon. Before I come back, you stay in my room obediently and don't run around, okay?"

The little guy immediately protested, an egg constantly swaying from side to side in front of Aaron, expressing its dissatisfaction.

"I don't want to leave you either!

But there's no choice; you're too valuable. What if someone snatches you if you come out with me?"

The white Dragon Egg kept swaying. How dare you leave me, an egg, at home? Do you call that a master?

"Daily work is a must. Don't worry, I'll definitely be back before dark.

Once you hatch, I'll take you everywhere, alright!" Aaronsaid earnestly.

The Dragon Egg stopped swaying this time and turned away somewhat haughtily.

Seeing the big and small haggling there, Gines couldn't help but chuckle.

The next moment, he felt a chill down his spine.

Aaron glared at him with a cold smile, and even the egg tilted slightly, casting a death glare through its shell along with its owner.

Gines couldn't help but swallow, "Well, Young Master, I'll go prepare your breakfast now."

"Wait."

"Oh, Young Master doesn't need to speak, I completely understand," Gines immediately said, "This Dragon Egg cannot eat for now. I will send someone to take good care of it, and we will find a specialist to handle its egg education."

"I can take care of the little guy perfectly well by myself; no need to trouble others.

As for the egg education you mentioned!" Aaron looked at the Dragon Egg and said with some hesitation, "I'll consider it."

As his words fell, the Dragon Egg in his arms immediately struggled.

"Cough cough! Gines, I take back what I just said; there's no need for egg education or anything like that.

Thank you for your kindness, but you should be able to tell that the little guy is about to hatch. A few days of egg education wouldn't make much sense."

Gines:...
