I stifled a giggle, rolled my eyes at Sean's suffering, and made my way over to where I could see Charlie in the distance. He was on his phone and even from far away I could tell the conversation was tense, so I hung back and waited. When he spotted me he gave a small smile and said something else into the phone before lowering it to his chest and raising an eyebrow at me.
"I just wanted to have a word with you, Beta." I smiled sheepishly, stepping closer.
He nodded and brought the phone back up. "Yes. Yes, it was her."
I furrowed my brows, confused, as he glanced at me again. He faux-yawned into the phone and kept listening.
"Yes. Yes, Alpha. Okay. Talk soon." He hung up.
My wolf stirred at the mention of her mate, but I pushed her back down firmly.
"What is up, Nova?" He smiled, closing the distance between us.
I looked up at his warm brown eyes and scrunched my nose. "I was just wondering if I could shift soon?"
