Episode 5: The Hidden Truth
Peace can be beautiful…
But sometimes, it hides storms waiting to rise.
For a while, everything felt right.
Samuel and Zara grew closer—slowly, carefully, but sincerely.
No pressure.
No rushing.
Just two hearts… learning each other.
They prayed together over the phone.
They shared scriptures.
They encouraged each other through difficult days.
And for the first time in a long while…
Zara felt safe.
But peace has a way of revealing what we try to hide.
One evening, they sat together again under the quiet sky.
The same place.
The same calm atmosphere.
But Zara wasn't the same.
She was quiet.
Too quiet.
"Zara," Samuel said gently,
"you've been distant today. What's wrong?"
She forced a small smile.
"I'm fine."
Samuel looked at her carefully.
"No… you're not."
Silence.
Zara looked away, her eyes fixed on nothing.
"I saw him today," she said softly.
Samuel's heart tightened.
"Him?"
She nodded.
"My past."
A strange tension filled the air.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Samuel asked.
Zara hesitated.
For a moment, it looked like she would say no.
But then…
She exhaled slowly.
"I think you deserve to know."
Samuel listened.
Carefully.
"I told you I was hurt before," Zara began.
"But I didn't tell you everything."
Her fingers trembled slightly.
"I was engaged."
Samuel's eyes widened a little—but he remained calm.
"It wasn't just love," she continued.
"It was a promise… a future… a life I had already imagined."
Her voice grew weaker.
"I gave him everything… my trust, my loyalty, my prayers…"
A tear slipped down her cheek.
"And he gave me lies."
Samuel clenched his fist slightly.
"What happened?" he asked softly.
Zara swallowed hard.
"He was seeing someone else… the whole time."
Silence.
Heavy.
Painful silence.
"I didn't find out from him," she said.
"I found out from people."
Her voice cracked.
"I defended him… I trusted him… I believed in him…"
She shook her head slowly.
"I felt like a fool."
Samuel's heart ached.
Not out of anger.
But out of compassion.
"And the worst part?" Zara whispered.
Samuel waited.
"He still tried to come back."
Samuel frowned.
"What?"
Zara nodded.
"He said it was a mistake… that he still loved me… that we could fix things."
She let out a painful laugh.
"But something in me had already broken."
Samuel took a deep breath.
"So… when you said you saw him today…"
Zara nodded again.
"He came to talk to me."
Samuel felt a sudden tension rise in his chest.
"What did he say?"
Zara's eyes filled with confusion.
"He said… he wants me back."
Silence fell again.
But this time…
It was different.
Samuel looked away for a moment, trying to process everything.
His mind was calm…
But his heart?
Not so much.
"And what did you say?" he finally asked.
Zara didn't answer immediately.
That scared him.
"I… didn't give him an answer," she said slowly.
Samuel's chest tightened.
"Why?"
Zara looked at him, her eyes full of emotion.
"Because I'm confused."
Those words hit harder than anything else.
"I thought I had moved on," she continued.
"I thought I was done with that chapter…"
She paused.
"But seeing him again… hearing his voice… it brought back everything."
Samuel stayed silent.
Not because he didn't have something to say—
But because he didn't want to say the wrong thing.
"I don't want to go back," Zara added quickly.
"But I don't know why my heart feels unsettled."
Samuel nodded slowly.
Then he said something unexpected.
"Have you prayed about it?"
Zara blinked.
"I… haven't. Not yet."
Samuel looked at her with calm seriousness.
"Then don't make any decision yet."
She stared at him.
Surprised.
"Your past may have a voice," he continued,
"but God should have the final say."
Zara's eyes softened.
Samuel took a breath.
"I won't lie… it hurts hearing this."
He looked down briefly.
"But I care about you enough to not control your choice."
Zara felt something shift inside her.
"I don't want to lose you," she said quietly.
Samuel looked back at her.
"Then don't make a decision out of confusion."
Silence returned.
But this time…
It carried truth.
That night, everything felt uncertain again.
Samuel prayed longer than usual.
"God… if she's meant for me, give me peace."
"But if she's not…"
His voice trembled slightly.
"Give me strength to let go."
And Zara, lying awake, stared at the ceiling.
Tears rolled silently down her face.
"Why now?" she whispered.
"Why bring him back… when I'm finally moving forward?"
She closed her eyes tightly.
"God… please speak to me."
"I don't want to make the wrong choice again."
But heaven was silent.
And sometimes…
Silence is the beginning of the biggest test.
